It may have been the room we had or our taste but cannot see this being a 5* rating. Its probably a 3.5. It has a very good location. Reception was quick, polite and friendly. The building looks good. Inside, if you like flowery, chintzy dark decoration, you will like it but I prefer something lighter and more contemporary. We had booked a superior room and although it was big, it was on the ground floor overlooking the internal restaurant courtyard so when in your room, people at tables a matter of feet away so intrusive and noisy. It is also near the small bar area they have and although not a rowdy bar, still get some noise. We also had strange intermittent noises from something in the water pipes above our room that late at night or early in morning are annoying. It was a fairly dark room. Cleanliness was very good. Not keen on the wet room style shower, just makes the whole bathroom wet and slippy. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. The website mentions valet parking but does not tell you they charge. The paperwork in the room says its free, but they charge. If I go to Tartu again, would probably try a different hotel.

Room Tip: Room 102 was not great

We were in Tartu for a visit at the University and stayed in a suite 1 nights and everything was just perfect. The personnel was extremely service-minded and helpful with everything. The room was beautiful, clean and very well equipped (including safety box) with comfortable beds. The restaurant served excellent a la carte dinner and the breakfast was good and with a wide choice (even sparkling wine!).
The location is perfect as it is in the city centre and right in front of the university.

Beautiful room, spacious well equipped bath, wonderful bed, very quiet for a peaceful night's sleep, great breakfast, and an excellent location at a price that doesn't break the bank. What more could anyone ask?

This is an historically-protected building turned into a modern hotel with a 19th-century feeling. They have preserved the exterior appearance and internal character. We had a room on the top -- fourth -- floor that was clearly a former attic; it was large with a very large bathroom. Ancient exposed roof beams gave the room an extra cozy feeling, and a skylight provided great light to a space that might otherwise have been dark. AC kept our room comfortable even though we were just under the roof in hot weather. We had a view of the main building of Tartu University through a semi-circular window nestled under the roof

2-3 stairs up to the entrance, but elevators inside to reach the rooms on the 2-4th floors and the restaurant in the cellar, where breakfast was also served. Breakfast, included, was a nice buffet with juices and sparkling wine, cereal, sliced meats and cheeses, breads, salad and tomatoes, and two kinds of fish. There was an a la carte menu as well, where you could get hot food made to order (eggs, pancakes, porridge) at no extra cost.

The whole facility was very clean and all the young staff extremely friendly and helpful; they spoke excellent English. Free, reliable wireless, 24-hour lounge bar, and cozy lounging areas with an outdoor patio. Parking available for an addd nightly fee. Great location in old town Tartu where you can walk to everything, but a couple of short blocks away from the noise of the out door cafés and bars. It was very quiet. This hotel is pricier than others in town, but we thought it was definitely worth it.

Just in front of the main university building, this boutique hotel with 18 rooms is filled with antiques and old fashioned furniture, such as heavy velvet curtains, wall papers and chandeliers. Breakfast is served in the old cellar. In summer, you can spend your time in the courtyard and in winter I think that the library with fireplace is a beautiful lobby. Impeccable service and excellent quality / price ratio.
