Description: The medieval restaurant Olde Hansa is the home of a rich merchant, whose guests enjoy delicious, authentic Hansa-era meals and drinks, true period music and always friendly service. All of the dishes on the menu, including many wild game delicacies, are cooked using 15th century recipes and methods. Medieval musicians delight the guests every night of the week except Mondays. Tallinn Card holders receive a sweet treat with every meal purchased - a bag of freshly roasted almonds, on the house!

We stopped by here during a recent cruise port. It was the perfect spot for a nice local lunch. They have great local beer selection as well. The atmosphere was a lot of fun. We were with a group of 11 and they easily accommodated us all. I highly recommend this restaurant!

The amount of food that you get at this place is massive and so tasty! The medieval atmosphere was a bit exaggerated outside, but really toned down inside, especially upstairs. The second floor was quiet and allowed us to enjoy the dark surroundings; it was hard to believe that a noisy town was right downstairs. The location is great as it's right in the middle of Old Town, and the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is large but a bit sparse for vegetarians. One thing we really enjoyed here is that the staff seemed to be into the theme, so that made for a fun experience. Definitely worth a visit in Old Town, but make sure to bring an empty stomach.

Everything is medieval here, except for the prices. You may listen to the historical instruments and the market shouter announcing the fancy medieval meal served in this restaurant without paying the upmarket prices of the dishes offered here, while you are just passing by. Have a look at the colorful price list and decide if you want to indulge in medieval cuisine.
The food was O.K., but not too special. Our local hosts said they would not go there for dinner if it was not for our tourist's sake

Of course, the waiters in medieval gear and the medieval decoration is a bit 'touristy', but this place is extremely good fun and very well done indeed. As with so much in the old town, it was a mixture of entertainment and serious historical authenticity. The building itself is old, like so many others in this beautiful city, so my partner and I were prepared to overlook the marketing gimmick. We ordered the 'gamekeeper's feast' and were really taken aback by the quality and the quantity of food! The starter plate was as delicious as it was generous, and then the mains included different dishes of wild boar, reindeer and boar ragu, salmon, rabbit, baked sauerkraut and sweet turnip. Every single dish was brilliant, especially the ragu, and all were beautifully and clearly explained beforehand. Personally, I was thankful not to have the musicians playing right in front of me, and I loved the candlelit interior. Staff were excellent. While so many places around the world are just made for tourists and are a real rip off, this place (and Old Tallinn in general) seem to have got the balance right. It was value for money and I would certainly go back.
