“Nice place for a coffee break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

This little cafe has an outside area which is nice during summer month. We sat outside with coffee, hot choc, bubbly and cakes. Food and drinks scored 4 of 5. Average service, nice central location next to main tourist attractions and gift shops. Would recommend to a friend visiting Tallinn.

Idyllic and relaxed place surrounded by charming little shops. Liked the velvet table cloths and sofas outside the cafe. The chocolate cake is sooo good!

“Great tea and atomsphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

This little alley is hidden away from one of the main tourist streets of Tallinn. We happened upon it and saw a lovely, eclectic, tea house. However, it was more than that, it provided amazing looking chocolate drinks and chocolates and cakes. The tea list had what I was looking for (green tea in a pot) and I ordered that. It was just right temperature and I we both enjoyed the heat of the day, but also some shade of the alley.

“Charming cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

While I am sure this place, attached to the Villa Hortensia hotel, is warm and cozy when it is cold, it was a heavenly oasis for us on a hot crowded Sunday afternoon. Using our R S guide book we hunted down this find, very close also to where you can get lovely reasonably priced signed ceramic items, prints in an artist co-op gallery in Katarina Kajk. Be warned, those with walking issues; it is in an alley with absolutely the most rutted cobblestones we found in the old town, but so much charm! We were so glad we had passed up many of the cute though crowded places all along the main streets.
On our Sunday visit, they had a 3 piece classical string group playing in the shaded plant and high walled courtyard, where most people chose to sit. The young English-speaking waiter had such a can do attitude: changing an amoretto coffee into an iced drink as there were no iced coffee drinks on the menu. Another example, heating the goat cheese in my very good and generous sandwich upon request. More of a desserts and drinks place but our sandwiches were great but limited choice. I saw them rearranging seating to accommodate those who wanted seating outdoors, bring out more chairs and even small tables. We sat at the end of a long antique table sharing with a party of three down the other end.
Inside, after navigating the cobblestones, you have to go up about 4or 5 steps, and it is cozy bohemiem with chairs tables, sofas, plants, and lamps, a tiny restroom down 3 or 4 steps w/rail. This is where there is a small chocolate and dessert take out and cashier.

“Chocolate cakes to die for”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

We found this small cafe while we were walking around. The courtyard (little street) is peaceful and you could sit there for hours. Coffee and chocolate were excellent, and the cakes are to die for. And prices are very reasonable.
For example:
Coffee with milk is 2€, cappuccino is 3€, baguette with salami and salad is 5€ and the delicious chocolate cake is 5€. I think all the cakes were 5€.
Try it, you won't be disappointed.
