“Surprisingly good mexican food”

First time I went to Cantina Carramba I had with quite low expectations (as I have been disappointed many times in many other mexican restaurants around Europe) and I was positively surprised by the food. Or course it is a bit "estonianized" version, but still the burritos, fajitas & nachos were pretty good, and quite big portions.

If you go there for a casual lunch/dinner with friends you'll probably have a good time. Of course not a place for romantic fine-dinning evening but a good place for casual gatherings with friends.

Another great point of the place is location: next to Kadriorg park, where you can have a walk to burn down the huge burritos.

On the negative side: service seems to vary a lot depending on waiter serving you. Sometimes quite good service.. sometimes extremely disappointing. So dont go there with high expectations on service.

Prices are a bit too expensive... but considering the location and the portions, you can forgive it.

Overall, good place for casual dinner and for changing of the over-saturated pasta & sushi places in Tallinn. If service was better and more constant it would get the "Very good" rating

I dont want to particularly diss this restaurant, because we checked out 3 mexican establishments in Tallin & were let down by them all, sadly very limited menu's to choose from (at all 3) i don't think the concept of Mexican has really reached Estonia yet,but we live in hope, I am particularly suspect of the other reviews here that have been made about this restaurant also. We took a tram to Kadroig Park & located this restaurant pretty easily right at the tram stop, however slightly off putting was the entire staff on the back doorstep in full view furiously dragging on their cigarettes!
all in all not what I'm looking for in a Mexican restaurant,,,,,,

Caramba is consistent. The food is reasonably authentic though sometimes let down by poor ingredients, the menu is unchanging and the portions always generous. It's not cheap, but is usually fair value. Most of the time the service is very good by Tallinn standards, but sometimes the staff make it very clear they want rid of you - even if it is half an hour before closing time. When it's quiet the staff have an annoying habit of disappearing, but when it's busy they do really well.

We had heard that the "other" places in Tallinn that billed themselves as Mexican food fell way short. So we decided to give this one a good try. It's located near Kadriorg Park, a beautiful place to walk. Your impression when entering this place is immediately favorable. Someone did a very good job with the decor. Its very artistic, yet rustic. Very comfortable seating, a small bar, although the place is set into the basement of the building so you lack any kind of views, however this is ok as its very comfy and you can imagine in the dark winter down there getting "away from it" all. We ordered the Chicken Burrito and Chicken Fajitas. Both very good - the Burrito though was very very good. They served sour cream, fresh-tasting guacamole, salsa, and a side of pinto beans Santa Maria-style. They served various Mexican beer like Corona Extra. I was confused by the infusion of American-Indian sketches and paintings. The service was very good as well. I would give this a try if your done with eating the same ole grilled-meat fare and want to get some comfort food a-la-Mexican food!
