Review of Cat-Cafe Nurri

Cat-Cafe Nurri
Ranked #24 of 58 Coffee & Tea in Tallinn
Price range: $6 - $23
Description: Welcome animal fans and friends to the Nurri Cat-Cafe! ATTN !! We suggest to visit us, then You are hungry. We offer delicious meals, fair trade coffee and tea and a relaxing break from city noise in a beautiful cafe, surrounded by the company of cats! Our cats are from both animal shelters and donations from the public, and we take care of them in the best possible way. We choose kitties who love the company of humans, so you're sure to get along with each other. To ensure that we meet hygine standards, all of the animals are brushed and cleaned regularly, as well as regular visits to the vets for health check ups. We offer visitors coffee, tea, smoothies and other beverages, salads, soups, pastas, special dishes, desserts, cakes pastries and more. The most important reason to visit the cafe, however, is to spend time with the cafe's 9 cats, who will do their best to drive off stress, fatigue and of course, to melt your heart! You can play with them, take pictures, or just give them a cuddle. To support the kitties we will add €5 to your bill for adults, and half of it for pensioners and students. Kids are free- they support the case by playing!"

The cat cafe was very easy to find. Had to be let inside as a safety precaution so no cats ran out because there is a busy street outside. Lots of beautiful fluffy cats to cuddle and most were very friendly. Loved the way they used old suitcases for cat beds. Entry fee of 5 Euro per person which I thought was a little expensive but it does go to help the cats. ( Children are free). Would have gone again if there was no entrance fee. Also thought their merchandise was a little expensive. All in all, we went to see the cats and really enjoyed it :D

We went to the cat cafe on the 28th August.
Although we had gone through the website and the menu, we had no idea there was an entrance fee of €5. Upon arrival we were asked to choose a seat and read the rules of the cafe. At that point we could see 3 sleeping cats. Whilst reading the rules we could point out many other customers ignoring the rules (a child rocking a box that a cat was sleeping in, other children throwing toys at sleeping cats and obviously all the screaming by the children (rules said cats don't like loud and unexpected noises). There was only one waitress in the cafe and although our order was taken quickly we waited 45 minutes for our coffees and an hour and a half for food which was only lukewarm when it arrived. We understood there was many people around but as a waitress myself, I would have apologised for the wait (no complaint would have been given). No apology was received. When paying for the bill the waitress gave us a dirty look when we asked for a discount for the long wait. Again No apology was received. As a discount we received a lollipop.
After the visit, I am definitely not supportive of cat cafes, or at least this particular one. The cats looked very frustrated, tried to stay away from people as much as possible and people were allowed to pick up cats (when awake) which resulted in scratches and biting. Having gone to a zoo the day before, the animals there looked happier than in the cat cafe.

To pay in order to touch a live (and often unwilling) thing. It felt (sorry) a bit like in a brothel ..
I think that it is a sick concept.

I love cats but I’m not quite sure about this place. Upon entry you can smell the cat litter which is not the nicest smell considering that it is an eating place. The prices for dishes/drinks were way too expensive! Plus on top of the bill there’s an entry fee of €5 to help them maintain the cats. Instead of having the additional fee, they should just incorporate it into the prices so that it does not feel over the top expensive.
The cats were sleeping while we were there so you need to be wary of timing if you really want to play with cats.
I would probably not return.

Such a cosy place. The cappuccino was amazing, and the cats are so adoreble. You can eat there and get drinks. It’s very sanatairy, and i would reccomend a visit. If you are over 19 it will cost to come in as well.
