“Beautiful, historic landmark hotel in the heart of Tallinn”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

If you want to be in the heart of historic Tallinn and literally reside in a historic landmark, this hotel fits the bill. Our room was on the smaller side on the second floor, facing the street. It had high ceilings but the black floor was a bit different, easy to see your belongings but also dirt, etc. There was a nice window that you could open up. Word of caution though, if you open the window and look out, keep in mind that there are tourists on the street below taking pictures of this majestic, large building. You may be included in those pictures, so dress appropriately and smile too :) Or, request a room higher up. There are nice amenities, really appreciated the bottled water (highly recommended not to drink the water in the Baltics), and the yummy chocolate left on the pillow. The bathroom was smaller than expected and the shower was next to the window, so again make sure to keep the shade drawn appropriately. Apart from the fabulous location, the breakfast buffet was quite extensive and varied, it was hands down excellent. This property has a beautiful outdoor restaurant area, so if you have time to dress up and do a high-end dinner outside, it looked like a lovely option. We passed by the restaurant on our way out and there were violinists playing for the diners, which was such a lovely treat to hear. As for the staff, people at the front were polite and helpful with our requests for directions, etc. In sum, if you are looking for a lovely, historic property in the heart of old Tallinn, this is one location you should definitely consider.

When staying at a 5 star hotel, you except high standard and we got a high standard hotel. But often at 5 star hotels, the service can be very impersonal. At Telegraaf the receptionist were efficient and gave a warm impression. The waiters in the breakfast restaurant were mostly young and a bit inexperienced. The restaurant is just lovely, the breakfast it self was good, but we would have liked a more attentive personal there.
The black interior of the hotel is very interesting. We had a superior room and I was told it should be in the old building (they have a newer building with a pretty ugly exterior as well). But we got a room on the upper floor, and we later understood that this floor is a new floor built on the top of the old building. The rooms on the new floor do just have a small "prison like" window. If we had understood that at once, we would have asked for a new room. A room with a black interior and a small window do get a bit dark.
But despite these minor dislikes we did enjoy our two nights at Hotel Telegraaf. The location is ideal in the middle of the lovely old town and most of the hotel is luxurious.

Room Tip: Try a superior room, but not at the 6th floor.

Can't fault this hotel. In a great position in the old town of Tallinn. Beautifully discreet exterior - we didn't know we were standing in front of a hotel! Used to be the telegraph office, but the old part now hides a modern wing and a lovely walled garden where you can eat from the restaurant or just have a drink. Our room was enormous, the bed large and very comfortable, and there is air conditioning which actually works properly and silently. We liked the pool in the spa. We had one meal in the restaurant (quite expensive) - great food - and not a fast food option! Well-trained staff. Lovely for a bit of luxury.

Stayed for 2 nights in November 2012, the hotel is in a fantastic location in the old town near to all the things to see and lots of restaurants and bars, our room was lovely and immaculate and had lot of little touches that you'd expect form a really good hotel such as robes, slippers and turn down service. Eat in the hotels restaurant at least once this was a brilliant experience, I could also not fault breakfast. The spa was also a great way to finish off a day of sight seeing. The hotel staff could not be more helpful even checking on our flight for us as it snowed on our final day.

We visited Hotel Telegraaf in April, and were impressed from the moment we stepped into the hotel. The service cannot be faulted, the restaurant was first class, afternoon tea and winelist likewise. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Estonia.

Room Tip: Contact the hotel with any requests, I'm sure they'd be most helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights in early August and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. The hotel is in the middle of Old Town right in the center of an area of restaurants, shops, and charming cobblestone streets.

We found our room to be lovely, with comfortable beds and a small seating area. The spa was small but nice with a wet and dry sauna, hot tub, swimming pool, and a menu of services. Morning breakfast was a large, well stocked buffet with numerous offerings. Dinner at Tchaikovsky was excellent with top notch service from the head waiter.

Upon departure I met briefly with the manager to compliment him on running a classy, professional hotel. The service was friendly and polite at all times and I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely room carefully decorated with beautiful bathrooms. Also, breakfast is nothing short of divine. There s a sensational buffet. if that isn't enough, you can order a la carte. Eat dinner at the Tchaikovsky a least one night. You will not forget it. The whole experience at the Telegraaf was a happy one.

Room Tip: We stayed in the historic section which we loved.
