We always choose small quirky hotels in good location as opposed to clinical chain hotels. The location was excellent. First impressions were good, however this one sadly didn’t live up to our expectations. Our room was tiny which in itself we wouldn’t have minded but it had no character and the furnishings were very basic and bland, thin not well hung curtains, one unappealing picture on the wall and basic furniture - so much more could be done to make it appealing so that customers wouldn’t mind the size! There was a smell of drains in corridor most days but reckon that’s just part of being an old building.
One day our room wasn’t made up and the lady arrived about 4.30 when we had come back to rest before evening. The breakfast was good, particularly enjoyed the bread and it was only place on our trip that had decaf coffee. Most of the staff were very friendly, particularly those who did our check in and check out.More
