+City Hotel Portus is only 100 m away from terminal D, which means 2 minutes walk to acess the ferry to Helsinki or Stockholm. So, it's ideal for ferry travelers. The price is reasonable, the breakfast is o.k, the staff is always friendly and helpful. The Hotel is also near the old town( 10 minutes by feet).
-The bathroom is inconvenient, beds are too small in width, rooms in front are too noisy in the night, the tv is very small(14'')

I booked this hotel as I got a wonderful price for 2 nights and the reviews.
But let me put some things straight.
1) The hotel is too far from the city center - for a middle aged couple like us, it is about 25 minutes walk. Not only the walk, the approach road to the hotel from the city center is dark at night. Hence, I was quite tense when walking with my wife while back to the hotel at night.
2) Got the opportunity to stay in two rooms, once at the back and once in front. Both the rooms have OK views. Can only see parked cars at the back and the entrance to the harbor at the front.
3) Only twin beds in both the rooms. The beds are too small in width. I wonder how Europeans with their big body structure can fit in to the bed.
4) Rooms are big though and quite comfortable.
5) Toilet is Ok but the shower is not satisfactory.
6) Breakfast spread is Ok but they repeat. Hence, not interesting.
7) Special mention of the reception. Fantastic people both in the morning and at night. Always smiling and willing to help.
8) Wonderful location for visitors taking the early morning ferry.
9) Not much option for eating out. Nearby restaurant was closed.
10) TV monitor very small for viewing

Overall a satisfactory experience. But could have been better.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th/6th floor

We stayed here only for one night. Price / quality ratio is fine;
Shower should be renewed (water does not disappear and then bathroom is under water).
We slept well thanks to the airco.
Far from the old town, but just in front of the ferries for those who need it and very close to the airport.
Breakfast buffet is ok - not too much but clean and fresh , many people at the same time.
Bar service till late in the evening, which is nice when you come back from town, to have a last fresh drink as there is no minibar in the room.
Staff was very helpful to print our boarding passes, although they ask 30 eurocents for one copy.

Every year I go away for the weekend with my mum and we try to find a reasonable hotel for a reasonable price. We go on a city trip to enjoy the city, not the hotel. For this hotel we paid €112,50 for a double room including breakfast, so the expectations were not too high. The bus from the airport takes you right to the ferry terminal in about 15 minutes, it stops in front of the hotel! Very convenient. Check in was from 15:00 onwards, but we could leave the luggage in a storage room. Also a plus. The hotel lobby and cafe had a nice feel to it, the staff was friendly so we had high hopes for the room. In the afternoon we checked in and believe it or not, it was actually really nice. Good beds, enough room for your stuff, quite a big bathroom. One disadvantage was that the room was located at the front of the hotel, opposite the ferry terminal and next to the street, above the terrace. It was very warm this weekend, no airco in the room so we had to sleep with the windows open and my dear what a noise from outside. If you can handle sleeping with the window closed, when it is not so hot, it will be ok. Breakfast is quite good, includes local specialties like herring (aaaarggghhh....for breakfast?) and rye bread, but also eggs, sausages, meatballs, good cheese and ham, fruits, coffee, tea, juices....amazing for this price. The location is not very romantic, you can find better located hotels in the old town, but this is a good hotel for the price you pay for it. I wish there was a rating GOOD instead of AVERAGE or VERY GOOD. It is definitely good. And only a 10 minute walk from the old town, or 5 minutes from the new city center.

Room Tip: Try gettong a room at the back of the hotel, they have to be quieter. Make sure you are not above th...

The staff is very friendly. Breakfast (buffet) is ok. Not too much, but clean and fresh. Best to come 7.00 or 7.30 am. Room is also ok for that price even beds not very confortable. As I stayed several times in that hotel there was i one room terrible bad smell from the cr. Anyhow the showers should be renewed.
The noise was just and just acceptable, but always keep in mind price and what you get for it.

I stayed here for one night in July because I was taking an early morning boat to Helsinki the following day and the hotel is located right opposite the Tallink ferry terminal. I'd arrived by air and the airport bus stops just outside the hotel [take bus number 2 from outside Arrivals, one-way fare is €1.50 for 15-20 minute journey to the port]. For me, price was a factor and the hotel offered great value for money for Tallinn in peak season. My motel-style room was clean and functional and more than satisfactory for the price I paid.
Initially the dockside location may seem unattractive but the Old Town is just a 10-15 minute walk away through the newly redeveloped ‘Rotermann Quarter’ with its plentiful shops, bars and restaurants. There is also a great Estonian beer hall situated just behind the hotel called “Kochi Ait Tavern” which brews its own beers, has live music on most nights and serves high quality, gastro pub-style Scandinavian food. There is a large supermarket over the road. The area felt safe even at night.
Still, a port is a port pretty much wherever you go, so if you’re making a one and only trip to Tallinn and you want pretty views, medieval buildings and cobbled streets then I’d recommend you spend 3-4 times as much and stay somewhere in the Old Town. If you're after good value accommodation and staying in a hotel surrounded by ferries, lorries and cranes won’t ruin your holiday, then this place is definitely worth a shot. I’d stay here again.

Room Tip: I stayed in an end room that had a decent view towards the Soviet War Memorial, the TV tower and as...

Comfortable and clean hotel just in front of the ferry terminal.

I stayed here one night in the end of June. I did explore the old town which was easy to access from this hotel by foot for a young guy. As well were the services of Kalev Spa and nice restaurants close to this one. If you walk 10 minutes to north from Portus, you can find a nice long beach very nice for a jog.

The rooms were clean but simple. Price meets the quality perfectly because the low price of stay includes morning coffee, which the hotel says to be breakfast. Don't worry if You sleep over breakfast serving time.

All in all, if I returned to Tallinn, I would absolutely stay here and use my travel budget into better options like eating and playing billiards (500m from the hotel was a nice place Kul Sal where one could play for 1,90€/hour).
