Owner description: Patkuli viewing platform is situated in one of the most ancient parts of Tallinn. It has fairytale views of the Old Town and its towers and walls, all the way down to the port. The stairway leading up to the platform was constructed in 1903. There are 157 steps connecting Toompea to the town below, with the stairway coming out in Toompark by the Shnelli pond.

...unless you want a great view. This is one of several viewing platforms that ring Toompea and offer great views of the city. They are all within an easy walk of each other so take the time to visit several of them. We did and it was even raining out.

The stairs down the hillside were built in 1903 and there are 157 of them. The views span the tall towers of the church out to the bay. Stairs are an option; this viewpoint cn be reached in other ways. The trees and vegetation soften the view nicely.

This was by far our favorite spot on Toompea Hill for views of the old city and its fortifications. If you are lucky and the weather cooperates, you can get incredible photos that will bring back wonderful memories of your time in Tallinn. From here, take the switchback stairs down to the old city at Nunne St and start your walkaround the walls and towers.

If you follow Rick Steve's walking guide, you will wind through quaint old alleys to get to this vista that is wonderful for photos. Be patient, it is a tour group favorite. We just had to wait a couple of minutes for crowds to pass.
