From the second you walk in you know that this has to be a really authentic place. The place just "looks right". It can feel a bit cramped for some seating areas, but I don't think this should hinder anyone. The restaurant is also divided into 3 areas so it would be great for a special occasion - it has many private corners.

The service is excellent. It's very formal yet pleasant. And we never felt we needed to wait for too long.

But the real reason to come here is the food. It really looks and tastes authentic. It isn't over sweetened to make it more suitable for Europeans. Among other things we had the sizzling beef and it was just to die for.

Very bad food and terrible service. If I complained about the food quality the cook said that if you don't like it then throw it away!!! DO NOT GO THERE!!

I absolutely cannot follow the accolades for this restaurant here on Tripadvisor. I have been to this restaurant a few times during the last year, except during the Fall, which I spent in China. The food quality is all right, and it is one of the more authentic Chinese places in Tallinn, but it remains a lower-end place with MSG'd, sugared sauces, none-too-great meat and poultry quality, and with a rather depressing, dark decor and inconvenient location. Still, if one absolutely needs to eat Chinese once in a while in a city known for its dearth of Chinese restaurants, this would be an okay choice.

Were it not for the terrible service and priorities - not of the (European) wait staff, but of the owner, who takes his responsibilities as a host extremely lightly. I understand that restaurants like these live primarily from Chinese tour groups and other large parties, and that small ones who do not consist of friends of the owner are more or less seen as an inconvenience. However, if you go to a restaurant with a reservation for a business dinner, sit down, order, wait 20 minutes and then the waiter tells you, in an embarrassed way, that a tour group came and that the cook stopped preparing your meal and works now on the large group's food first, and that yours would now take about an hour, you really have to wonder about this kind of attitude. If you don't want to be a good host, why open a restaurant? We left, of course, and will not be back.

I have visited them several times and tried different meals, I must say they are doing good food there. Especailly I recommend hand-made noodles ! The place location is not the best and inside decoration is also typical for chinese.

Dao Hua is a well hidden secret in Tallinn despite it'd quite central location opposite Stockmann department store. As many chinese places it's interior doesn't say much. But the restoran is popular among embassy workers and chinese expats for a good reason.
The chef comes from Chengdu Sichuan province , is highly educated and does not make compromizes to westerners. Therefor the food is truely chinese and of course the Sichuan classics taste exactly like in Chengdu. You will find MaPo DouFu, Kung Pao Chicken and other dishes in the menu.
As I've been tens of times to China I appreciate Dao Hua for their approach serving original chinese food which tastes exactly the same as in China .
