Description: Located under the 12th Century Raekoda (Town Hall) building in the main square of Old Town Tallinn, Kolmas Dragon (or the Third Dragon) is a small medieval-themed tavern. This charming eatery with its beautiful-period interior is hosted daily by a group of petulant housekeepers whose job it is to entertain all-comers with their brusque and rude service manner. However this is all purely theatrical - a style that is closer to the behaviour that one would have received in the medieval ages. Specialities that are served include beef ribs, elk soup, savoury pastries, pickles from a barrel, teas, wines and the famous house beer. All those who enter should therefore be ready for not only tasty foods and beverages but also to some exceptionally entertaining service.

I founded this place by Tripadvisor and that was very good choice :) The Elk soup (est. Podra suppi) is very good. Soup is served in a clay bowl and you dont get a spoon, you have to drink it from a bowl - it's fantastic :) All bar is designed on medieval tavern, the light inside is from only the candles, Staff has medieval clothes, everything looks geat. The Elk Soup costed 2€, and the pastries 1€ - also very tasty. You can by also something to drink. ... Just go there and try!

When you go in, you are met with greetings and smile from the staff. This is great and not very common in Tallinn.... Food is basic but cheap, and the whole atmosphere of medieval times actually seems genuine here compared to some other places (or like the very pricy Olde Hansa right next door). Enjoy the beer, sausages and soup. You will feel surprised that this is almost self service, as you need to "fish" your own pickled cucumbers from the barrel. Great place and atmosphere - good for a quick bite/ lunch - not really a dinner place.

Definitely the coolest vibe of ANY restaurant in Tallinn I'm sure and the food is great.

It was my last evening in the wonderful city of Tallinn and I had finally got around to stopping by III Draakon and it was worth every bit of the money I spent. I went through two bowls of the elk stew, three of the filled pastries and four cups of their own ale.

I can't speak enough about the ambiance and the food here which makes for an all around great experience in Tallinn.

Don't pass this place up when you are visiting this amazing city !

We tried this very "medieval" style restaurant on the weekend and the ambiance was fantastic, the food was good and very reasonably priced. The only thing that was not okay, was the fact that if you have food allergies and try to explain them, you get a very tough reply "who knew about allergies in medieval times" or "I don't know what someone could have dropped into the soup".
So if you don't have allergies - certainly go! But if you do - stay away.

Elk soup and pasties, tasty and in a cosy cellar. Very cheap, very cheerful, don't expect super service or a la carte and you won't be disappointed.
