“Good displays upstaged by the Israeli pianist...”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

We arrived late in the afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the many displays. As we raced to get through them all before closing time, the grand piano was opened and the pianist began practicing for his recital due to commence in about one hour! Glorious.....but the Hall is worth visiting even without the soundtrack!!

“Beautiful Building with Informative Displays”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

Visiting the Great Guild Hall would be worth the time just to see the interior of the building and learn about the operation of the guilds. But there's even more: the museum provides extensive information about the prehistoric settlers as well as the struggles of Estonians to maintain autonomy. There are also numerous artifacts, including samples of many different types of currency. Although we spent little more than an hour at the museum, you could take more time if you watched all of the videos.

“Refurbished Museum is excellant of its type.”
Reviewed June 16, 2011

This is the Estonian History Museum which has just reopened after a refurbishment. It is an entertaining and informative museum. It combines the display of exhibits with modern technology. There are many screens where you have to touch to have 5 questions displayed for you to answer. In the basement there is a section on the origins of cinema where you can watch ,to your own choice ,up to 9 Lumiere films. It is one of the best museums in Estonia and i was there for around 2 hours.I would mention that the first floor you go into got extremely war4m,probably due to all the lighting. In the main hall on the ground floor the exhibitions are on a raised platform so dont go to near thedge otherwise you will take a shot drop of about 6 inches.Well worth the effort to visit.
