“Great hotel in Tallinn's old town”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

I recently stayed here for three nights with my partner. We knew Tallinn had a medieval old town so we decided to splash out a little more and stay within the city walls. We are glad we did - the room was like a palace compared to our previous accommodation in Russia. Only downside was that the king sized bed was really just two singles pushed together, but OTOH they were extremely comfortable. Although there are bars and a casino nearby, we found the double windows to be very effective in blocking out street noise. Because medieval towns are walkable, everything we needed was a short distance away including many nice restaurants, ATMs, public transport and of course tourist sites. Not really much to fault here.

By usual European standards, I would consider this a good 3-star. Location is very convenient but, as in other reviews, very noisy outside as it is next to a casino.

Our room was very small and but had an adjoining door - the walls were so thin, we could hear the person next door merely clearing his throat. One evening, when he hit his light switch, a light came on in OUR room!

Breakfast was ok, not great quality, tiny paper serviettes...
Friendly, helpful staff.
Paying for use of the sauna should not be charged, this is usually free in hotels. Tea/coffee in the room would have been good. Great to have free wifi though.

My city is in a fantastic location very close to the main square. Although there is a nightclub directly opposite we were lucky enough to come mid week when this was shut, but I'm sure there would be a little noise come the weekend. Breakfast is basic - but what was there was fine. We paid extra for an upgrade but room was still on the small side - although the bathroom was large with a tub. Be careful with the speciality coffee and tea in the big packages on the desk - these aren't free, luckily my husband read the booklet about the hotel before I dived in!! Sauna and hot tub (well cool tub really) are a great bonus - but the cost is a little steep. It would probably get used more if the cost was more reasonable. Staff are all very friendly and extremely helpful.
Tallinn is a lovely place with lots to do. If you like things a bit out of the ordinary visit the prison on the coast - a very eerie place with a lot of history.

The hotel has a really good central location!
I would recommend this to anyone.
What was nice to find out, was that the service provided was really excellent, especially at the reception :) So we'll be back next year..

I've been visiting this hotel for a number of years and have always been greeted warmly and made welcome. The staff are always helpful and try to put me in my 'favourite room'. Rooms are kept very clean and the hotel is comfortable with a decent breakfast. The location is perfect for both business and tourist trips.

We stayed four nights at My City Hotel, convenient location, helpful staff, room clean and comfortable, breakfast was fine. Because we were leaving too early on our last morning for breakfast, staff insisted that we take a breakfast back (grateful for that later in the morning on the bus to Riga!)
