“Excellent hotel for the price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Located within 10 minutes' walk of the historic centre of Tallinn this is an excellent hotel for most classes of traveller. I stayed in two different rooms either side of a trip to Tartu. The first room was a large room with a double bed. The bed was soft but gave a very good night's sleep. The room was clean and whilst not the most modern in decor was well supplied facilities wise. The second room was on the 4th floor and was smaller and cheaper than the first. 2 single beds rather than another, but comfortable which is the main thing. Small bathroom with slightly tired fittings, but again it was clean and had a great shower. The only minor gripe with this room was that the garbage collection provided an unwanted wake up call and the windows offered little in the way of sound proofing. Not really the hotel's fault though.

I didn't make it to breakfast which my companions tell me was wonderful. There was free wifi as there seems to be everywhere in Estonia. Most importantly, the staff were very helpful. When I needed to print a bus ticket they gave me their email address and printed it for me.

I have no complaints about this hotel and would stay there again without hesitation.

I am a wheelchair user and stayed in a room on the 2nd floor. The hotel displays a cheap glitz in the lobby, but once you reach the upper floors it has a bleak, eastern feel. The handicapped room was large, but of low standards:

- very low bed means trouble changing to and from the wheelchair
- no shower seat at all. i ended up using a stool from the room, which of course was slippery on the floor and had no armrests. This can be dangerous when you loose balance.
- the usual tiny litter bin, with pedal control.
- no shelves on the wall to put your sanitary tools.
- room windows are so recessed it is impossible to reach them, so live with closed windows during your stay.

toilet nevertheless was good, with double armrests but no soft toilet seat, so bring your own.

the room itself can only be described as ugly and worn, but it is clean. the opposite building is so close that you feel a little closed in. also light spill is extreme. staff is nice, but sometimes inexperienced. breakfast is abundant of okay quality, but seating space is very limited and you will have trouble getting your breakfast back to your table in a wheelchair, because the buffet layout is like a maze.

i would not stay there again, sorry.

As a budget chain option this hotel fits the bill. Your arrival at the hotel will set the scene for your stay; either through an alleyway or through a car park. The hotel does it's best to cheer up a grey space with splashes of colour. The breakfast is included for all rates as is standard in Tallinn hotels. The location is a short walk from Tallinn old town.

We liked the upbeat decor in the lobby and the abundant choice breakfast. The room had a lot of storage and many convenient electrical outlets. Also there was a good use of space in the room. Once the rooms are refurbished and the beds changed, it should be a very comfortable and convenient hotel.

Room Tip: You might want to request an extra mattress pad and pillow. The springs could be felt in our mattre...

Booked it, because read decent reviews on booking.com and it also offered a good deal of 55$ a night for 4 nights.

The hotel is at a very good location and rooms are quiet.
The lobby and breakfast and bar area are very modern and new. When comes to the rooms that is not the story. But as we didn't come for a design experience, a bit older room design didn't bother us. BUT the best thing about this hotel is its breakfast. It is indeed very good selection of food - english breakfast, fruits, cold meats, cheeses, and different drinks, as much as you like. As for me it is important to have a good selection at breakfast, as don't eat some foods, and here I could make a good selection for myself.
On the downside, upon arrival one of sockets in the wall burned our iPhone adaptor and we lost power in the room. Power was reconstructed, and they gave us another adaptor, and said that it wasn't their fault. But surely it was and unstable voltage in the socket is by no means our fault! So hope they either give us their adaptor or refund us for the price when we leave.

Room Tip: Could though say that the double bed in Standart room is only 1.4 m, whitch is not what we are used...

Great location, great lobby, friendly service, great price but then we arrived to our huge room with one narrow 'double' bed with a narrow sheet and a one narrow blanket to share and one very thin pillow each. The 'bed' consisted of a very warn out box spring with a thin (½ inch, 1 cm) mattress cover, felt like a squeaky, lumpy hammock on one side and hard and squeaky on the other. Both nights for sleeping were ruined. The other furniture was a small chair that appeared to be leather but turned out to be shiny with age and (filth? hope not.) Dim lighting made it difficult to see. Everything else in the room and hotel was very clean and neat. We could have roller skated in that huge empty room, though.
The fantastic breakfast almost made up for lack of sleep. Don't know if we'll go there again, since sleep is sort of important when travelling.

Dear squaredancer,

Thank you for sharing your comments!

As in the previos review, I do apologise for the disturbing elements you experienced during your stay with us. And of course I very much would like to take the opportunity to let you know about the renovation starting as of January. After this we will have very nice and modern hotel rooms, included the improved sound insulation of the doors. But it is just not this, there will be much more!

I am sure we will guarantee you then a best sleep in town with the same good breakfast.

With best regards from Tallinn
Kaido

On check-in I asked for a nice room and the nice lady gave me a room on the second floor where spotlight from direct opposite building was shining so bright into the room that even when closing the curtains light was shining through. The window was also just 20 cm away from the exhaust pipe of the kitchen. She assigned me a new room in 5th floor which was without these drawbacks. The room itself was large but very old and these rooms need urgently a relift. Also the entire carpet on the way to the rooms are very dirty and filthy. Doesn't make a very good impression. Location of the hotel is good otherwise I would not stay there again,

Room Tip: Ask for a upper floor and according to the reception the economy standard rooms are all old and ever...
