Lovelely old town with allot of history and many small coffee shops everywhere which I like. Gets a bit cold up there so better to go in the summer

We took a Rick Steves tour, i.e., we read about old town from his book on NE Europe. It was an accurate and very nicely explained tour. The old town is captivating being protected by walls and gates. The streets are incredibly clean. I was captivated by the Russian Orthodox Cathedral in town as it was a gorgeous blue sky day with nice clouds and the top of the cathedral sparkled! Really cool. The shops seemed very visitor friendly. My wife purchased a shawl covering at a shop located at one of the view points to the lower city and the experience was nice. A lovely young lady waited on her and she was quite conversant (English) and offered lovely help. Compared to other old towns we visited our our cruise (Riga, Klaepedia, Helsinki) it was captivating and magical.

Cobbled streets, red-roofed buildings and a charming maze of squares, churches and gabled roofs unfold in this European Medieval Old Town. We visited the Upper Town and the Lower Town. (Make sure you wear comfortable, sensible shoes for walking the cobblestoned streets.)

Tallinn Old Town is charming. From the viewpoint you can take in the beautiful view of the city and a nice photo opportunity.

The Lower Town square is complete with shops and many pubs and eateries...you won't be disappointed.
