“Lovely dining”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

My husband and I chose one of the set menus, and were delighted with all 4 courses. Each course was made with care & consideration, was steaming hot on arrival and all ingredients were fresh and of good quality. Our waiter was attentive and sweet, even when really busy. Try it out people!

“Bizarre...but in a good way”
Reviewed June 6, 2012 via mobile

Things did not look too promising as we entered a deserted Restaurant, at Lunchtime! However, we were hungry and the menu outside looked good, how bad could it be?
The decor was very kitschy, gold /yellow coloured cloths on the tables and matching chair covers. Then we met our waitress...full scale Russian Doll, complete with Traditional-ish costume, purple satin dress and 'diamond' encrusted headgear, a bit bling for a Tuedsay lunchtime, I thought.
There is a three course set menu for €20 but we ordered starter and main course,
Dumplings in a light broth, one with Mushroom sauce and Sour Cream, the other stuffed with lamb, accompanied with a garlicky sauce and strips of Bacon, both absolutely delicious, very filling. For mains we had Moose Stroganoff and Wild Boar Goulash, both served with Potato and Cabbage Gratin. Stroganoff was quite heavy on the Sour Cream but none the less delicious flavours.
'Jolly' Russian Muzak playing throughout the meal, almost prompting me to ask if they had any Bob Dylan! Aforementioned Russian Doll was obviously feeling the chill in the Estonian air and draped herself in a beige blanket between courses, while her satin cossack-shirted male counterpart busied himself with trying to look busy.
All in all it was a good experience, a bit bizarre considering the hour of the day and the lack of customers, maybe it has a better atmosphere in the evenings and maybe the fancy dress doesn't look so out of place at night!
Two courses with 2 large beers - €44, not bad considering it was a restaurant on the main tourist drag. Would recommend, but maybe later in the day

“A fine place to have a complete experience”
Reviewed May 2, 2012

Honesty is a great trait and this place has it: it looks like a themed restaurant and that it is what it is. If you are looking for just a place to fill your belly and eat as cheap as cheap can get, wrong place (although it isn't the most expensive either). If you are one of those guys looking for the "extreme Russian experience" as some of the others here, I have news for you: wrong country. Now, if you are interested to have a good experience while you're in Tallinn, with a different cuisine and an extra cultural touch other than Estonian, then this is a place for you. In my visits there with my friends we enjoyed the meal, the visuals, and atmosphere, and for the whole experience it was a decent price. It is a very nice place to eat and have a good time with your fellows if you are looking for a complete experience.

“Average food and good service. Not sure whether worth it a second visit, though...”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

We had a late lunch at Klafira and... it was ok. Average. Nothing too memorable, I'd say. We ordered a set menu (20€) that included the typical beetroot soup, the dumplings filled with meat, moose stroganoff and pancakes for dessert. Since it's a set menu, the portions are smaller but it's nice to try different dishes :) When we paid, they didn't have change so we had to leave a considerable tip... Not sure if I'll ever come back, to tell the truth. But for a first-ever Russian dining experience, it's not bad.

“Do not waste your time or money!”
Reviewed December 27, 2011

We are lovers of Russian food but this resturant was a total disaster. The service was automatic, regimented and dismissive. The decor has connotations of the days of the Czar and waiters are dressed in Russian costumes but do not be fooled by this because the food did not resemble russian food on any level. Tastless, and expensive. The chicken dish was inedible appeared to be processed chicken fron a supermarket chain store. . Dumplings in broth were hard lumps of dough in hot water!! Moose strogonoff in sauce resembled strips of leather swimming in thickened milk . Borscht soup actually tasted of beetroot but with lots of sugar so it should have been named beetroot pudding! One of the worst places we have ever eaten, We went to a bar immediatly after and washed away our dissappointment with a shot of good Estonian vodka!
