The hotel is located very close to the old town. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are not big but cozy and well equipped. I enjoyed the breakfast.
The hotel is very good for the budget.
Tip: There is a hotel parking 15 EUR/day. It’s secured during the night. If it’s not important for you there are much cheaper overnight parking offers available around.

I spent a week here with friends. From the start, the reception staff could not have been more helpful.

I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a Zen Deluxe room which was amazing. The room was clean and airy, with a lovely view across the hotel's courtyard area.

Bathroom had a fantastic jacuzzi bath, although I would have preferred a fixed shower.

The buffet breakfast had a great selection and staff were quick to provide additional items when required.

The hotel was well located, a short walk into the town, and staff were always willing to provide recommendations and maps - they really made our trip special!

My wife and I spent two nights at this lovely hotel while on a tour of the Baltics. The location is great, and the service is outstanding. They serve an excellent buffet breakfast here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our superior room was located in a separate building, with the only drawback being the lack of an elevator. The hotel has a spa, although we did not use this service.

I'd like to start with the positives on our recent 3 night stay. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful catering for all tastes and appetites. The recently opened spa area can be privately hired for €16 per couple for 1.5 hours. It's a spacious area with a sauna, whirlpool and showers, very clean and inviting.
On check in it appeared we had been forgotten - the trip was booked through Expedia and as we'd had no issues with our airline we knew that we had to be on the list... Somewhere!
Eventually we were found and given room 208. Up we went to the second floor. The room was tiny! I called straight down to ask to change but we were unable to do so. The bathroom was very small - no walk in shower or large bath as promised - instead the shower was curtained off from the toilet, once the shower was used the bathroom as soaked.
The room was clean, warm and bright but just too small for 2 people with 2 small suitcases.
When I booked the trip I opted for a superior room... Hmmmmm! On arrival I was told all rooms are now superior. Superior to a cupboard?

Room Tip: Ask for an original superior room.

Nicely decorated modern rooms. I had a Zen room, with plenty of space, although the bathroom (with tub) was tiny. My room had a working PC, wired to the Internet.
Excellent, smiling, and helpful service: at the arrival Internet was not working, and they called the engineer to set it up; at checking out, they *offered* to check in for the flight and to print the boarding passes; I was leaving early, so they offered to provide a boxed breakfast; etc.).

In short walking distance to the center: the walk is indeed very pleasant, across the old walls and the Upper Town (Toompea).

I had a corporate rate, which was very convenient.

Visited Tallinn 20th to 23rd April, in part for the Michael Buble concert (birthday present for my fiancee). Decided on the von Stackelberg in part as a result of other reviews and in part because of the extras in their 'Zen' rooms.

The hotel is very nicely decorated and appointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly (in keeping with people in Tallinn generally). 'Zen' rooms give you an arm chair, Jacuzzi bath, a bit more space and a desk-top pc with internet / wi-fi. You also get wi-fi in the room and the hotel public areas. The restaurant is excellent and the food first rate; again, very good - and respectful - service. Location is good in that it's a ten minute walk to the old town but you're away from any of the hustle and bustle. On the down side, the von Stackelberg is on the corner of a busy junction and even on the third floor, with the window open traffic noise is quite evident (good double-glazing, though, so with the window shut it was okay).

The hotel has spa facilities as well.

Tips: always ask the taxi drivers for an estimate of cost as they can bump the meter; the ones we had booked by reception were better in that they were probably on contract, so cheaper. Also, as you would expect, Town Hall Square can be dearer, although it pays to check all the menus - we found a restaurant that did great food and it wasn't over-priced. (Should also mention a basement eatery just off the main square called 'Spice', run by a friendly Indian chap, which does Indian, Chinese and other nationalities' dishes. That should set off alarm bells but the setting is nice and the food very good; and it's open until the early hours, on a Saturday at least.) Finally, there's not an overabundance of ATMs.

The Museum of Occupation(s) is good but small and quite limited (compared to the one in Riga, for example). There's also a small museum in the centre concentrating on torture (just saw it in passing!)

Room Tip: Top floor if possible . . . noisy traffic on the main road.
