Description: Café Josephine is just like little Paris on Vene Street, at the gates of the Dominican Monastery. We have real coffee beverages, cakes and truffles. The café also offers small savoury snacks.

I fell in love with Josephine years ago back when it opened and since then each time I visit Tallinn I always end up spending most of my time sitting here. I wish I could take this place back home with me.

This place offers the same treats as Pierre Chocolaterie, but the athmosphere is more 1920s Paris - except when they decide to play some modern music, which makes no sense. The place is at its best when they play the old charlston, it's snowing outside, and you eat the delicious, huge chocolates or cakes indoors in the hazy lighting.

Free wifi. Sometimes visited by the owner's lovely, old dog. Service professional, but could be friendlier. They serve also quiches and other salty foods, but the main emphasis is on the chocolate.

Tucked into one of Tallinn's impossibly charming cobblestone streets, Cafe Josephine is a must-try on a visit to Estonia. Whether you fancy coffee, a slice of cake, or one of the unbelievable truffles, Josephine will not disappoint. The cafe itself is outfitted in royal purple and red velvet, with 1940s jazz playing on loop in the background. Josephine must have been a saucy lady, as the table we sat at held a dimly-lit lamp sprouting a pair of women's legs. That said, the decor holds only half the charm of the cafe: visitors are drawn into Josephine for the winning decor, but they come again for her truffles.

To put it simply, sinking your teeth into one of Cafe Josephine's truffles is a life-altering experience. A visit to Tallinn without tasting one of these would be to sacrifice a sample of the most heavenly chocolate in all of eastern Europe. The rich, smooth chocolate of each truffle is wrapped delicately in decadent shells. We selected several of Josephine's alcohol-infused truffles (the Irish Cream, the Captain Morgan, and the Royal Amaretto) and found ourselves mouthing "wow..." between bites. The amaretto truffle was truly the best--so special, in fact, that we came back again the next day to eat another one. Dipped in almond-infused white chocolate, the amaretto truffle marries the decadent chocolate that is distinct to truffles with the sweet, nutty, and I-can't-quite-put-my-finger-on-it essence of amaretto. This is a truffle unlike any other. A visit to Cafe Josephine will certainly enchant a visit to Tallinn, but the Royal Amaretto Truffle will heighten the standard by which you live your life.

Visited in July 2012. We had two beautiful slices of delicious chocolate cake and probably one of the largest portions of ice cream in Estonia on the patio. The service could have been more active, because we decided to skip ordering more coffee. Also, in a place with this quality and price it is difficult to accept the fact that there is simply no restroom, if there is something wrong with the customer WC. Otherwise a perfect experience on a nice patio.

I came here one afternoon Oma very rainy day to pass the time with a book and a few cafe drinks.
Inside is cozy and reminiscent of the 40s and earlier in music and atmosphere.
Tables are cOmfortavle and far apart but the seating is limited-fine right now but would hate to come here when the cruise ships are all docked.
Capuccino was excellent with thick foam.
Got a couple truffles-expensive but worth it! They were deliciOus and creative. My table by the window was perfect for an afternoon of people watching, sipping and book reading.
I would recommend this cafe to anyone who needs a calm break during a day of sightseeing in tallinn
