We went from Tallinn to a place to spot wildlife. On our way we had to stop for food and drinks. We choose Rakvere to replenish our supllies. We saw an old castle up the hill and had some time to kill, so we hiked up there... Simply amazing.
The people really try to make the experience as real as possible (aside from a tour trough hell, which was still very enjoyable).
The food was nice enough.
Fun if you're a couple... a must when you're with kids.

Nice castle to visit but the entrance fee is quite high, which might be worth it if you check out all the "shows".

One of the best conserved medieval castles in whole Baltic area. A must-visit-place when you're somewhere around.

This was a stop on our shore excursion in Tallinn, and turned out to be a lot of fun. It's the ruins of a medieval castle which caters to local school groups which get to don knight apparent and joust, etc. We had a great lunch here too, and tasted the local vodka. And don't miss the dungeon!

Traveling through the Baltics we passed Rakvere on our way to Tallinn.. we didn't have enough time to experience the castle and the hands on demontrations of the various trades.. especially appreciated the all-ages proof quiz on sexuality in medieval times.. make sure you have at least half a day to spent.. it is worth it..
