Description: Sweet Root - seasons inspired local cuisine. The restaurant is located in Uzupis, the most distinctive district of Vilnius. Its menu is concise though balanced, changing in line with the rhythm of beautiful seasons of Lithuanian nature. It is based on true, natural, locally sourced produce and patterns derived from traditional Lithuanian cuisine.

Beautiful dishes with well prepared quality ingredients. Seems to be quite a new place, waiter was truly interested to hear our opinions about the food. For a food lower, not for the one who searches the biggest portions.

Definately one of the best dining experiences I had during my recent stay in Vilnius. The restaurant is located in a very charming district - Uzupis that has been popular among artists for some time, and is compared to Christiania in Copenhagen, due to its bohemic atmosphere.
The Sweet Root's setting is beautiful. Interior brings freshly cool nordic feeling but at the same time is intimate, soothing, cosy.
Service really woos, here you can sit and enjoy being pampered.
The food puts this restaurant in the absolute top in Vilnius. Not quite as experimental as the other fancy places like "Lauro Lapas" and "Bistro 1 Dublis", but it is outstandingly high quality and is cooked and presented with creativity and attention to detail. Portions are quite small and therefore I would recomend to take at least one dish from each menu section and enjoy various unexpected flavour combinations. You will not regret.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Vilnius and definitely worth taking some time out for a visit.

The food was sublime. I had starter, soup, main dish and dessert. Each course was carefully put together to compliment the meal, sprinkled with a twist on local cuisine. The service was superb - some of the best I've encountered in Lithuania, striking just the right balance between attentive and sincere.
Great place to have dinner with friends or date night. Do not hesitate to order all set since portions are not big. I will definitely return. Well done Sweet Root!

We stopped for dinner in the week when the place just opened. The service has been outstanding: with a smile, excellent English, good recommendations, the staff takes care of every table. Since then we visited a few more times, and it's been great every day when we came over.

The wine list has enjoyable reds from Campania that are not so obvious, and good whites from Pfalz. There is nice summer seating at the terrace (though beware of smokers if the wind blows the wrong way).

And now on the food: everything I had (and I had everything that does not feature meat), has been amazing. From sliced roots to grilled river fish to mushrooms to risotto and to the dessert. The portions are pretty small, however, and we had some people at the table who couldn't get over the fact that a salad disappears in five spoons, not fifty. Personally, I think this is a great way to enjoy a special occasion.

My problem is of a different kind: I live around the corner, and I would have loved to come here three times a week, however I've sampled everything already and I've resorted to waiting until the place starts serving lunch or changes the menu with the next season.

If I may make a suggestion? It would be great if there were an option to take an "XL" potion of a dish, if a guest wanted so. In this way, after the first two visits, when one samples left and right, one may settle just on the fish one night, and just on the mushrooms the other night. It is a great privilege to host a birthday party here, with your guests discovering modern healthy cuisine made with the heart; it would be equally great if one could also come just for a glass of wine, a book and one big plate of a proven & trusted classic, and sit there in the corner happily.

Executive summary: if you're in town and you haven't been here yet, definitely take the trip and be ready to sample 4-5 items on the menu. Makes a perfect place for visitors, esp. food-conscious, who care about how fresh and how inventive their salads are.
