This part of Vilnius is filled with the old as well as the new.
Lots of shopping and eating experiences to be had
The old Cobble stone streets are such a refreshing piece of street history. Takes you back to a different time.
So much history .

Great downtown. Lot of shopping, food, places of interesting etc. Perfect to walk around, visiting local pastries. Just one thing which spoiled me impression there was public toilets for charge.

And here is why...it is a rather large medieval area that is full of lovely shops, cafes, bars and history. The old walls and the five or so palaces make it a perfect place to walk and enjoy life. We found amazing restaurants in the back streets...make sure you look.

Vilnius is my native town, however I enjoy visiting the old city every time. You can find different attractions here, starting from walking throught narrow cozy streets, sitting in cafe or restaurant, enjoying pictures that are selled in Pilies street or visiting art galleries, museums, churches.

Large open square, lovely buildings, free walking tour from outside town hall at 10am and 12 noon. Nice to stroll around. Top end shops around this area. Easy to find other tourist areas from here

Old Town has been renewed into a shopping area for more that just souvenirs. There are some very nice linen shops, art gallerys, and places to eat. It is best to not be in a hurry so that you can walk around and down some of the side streets. There are also many places to eat outdoors and people watch.

It's interesting to see how Vilnius differs from one side of the river to the other - when you go up the Gediminas Tower you can see the financial and built up district across the river but the Old town has more or less stayed to its true form.
Some beautiful architecture & stunning buildings as well as lots of quirky side streets with street sellers selling everything from winter hats and gloves to toys! Lots of interesting characters to see as well - the lady with the huge flowery hat who looked like something out of a Disney film especially! Don't forget to look up or you'll miss so much!

We have visited Vilnius twice, once as a day stop from the Viking Star, and once for a three day stay at the Telegraph Hotel. The old town is lovely and walkable, with lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore.

We loved Vilnius old town, lots to see & all very quaint & interesting. Never short of a pretty church or good restaurant! Easy to get round on foot...free walking tours go from outside the town hall!
