“Unfriendly staff, internet didnt work”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Unfriendly staff in the reception, the internet connection at the room didnt work, we talked to the reception about it and they did nothing to help. The breakfast wasn't good, the room was small. At least the location was decent and it was quite cheap.

Our first reaction upon check-in was "oh no, this is not what the brochure described". Service was poor at best. Rooms were tiny. Beds were not really beds, more like mattresses on the floor. Good news was breakfast was included and there was plenty to choose from. Almost made up for the prostitutes working the sidewalk adjacent to the hotel each evening.

My advise is to spend a few dollars more and stay in the Old City in higher quality hotel.

Room Tip: If you have no other choice but this place, try for top floor facing the city. That is what we were...

I stayed in this hotel longer and I would like to say thank you to all the staff there. Reception was very polite always solving your problems, the ladies cleaning the room were very nice and doing a good job. The view from the hotel was fantastic, best in Vilnius, I think! Location- very good. Generally exceeded my expectations. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay once gain.

After reading mixed reviews about this hotel, a friend and I arrived with limited expectations. In the end, this is a fine hotel. Location is excellent for bus or train station, our main reason for selecting it. The room is fresh and clean, comfortable, too. Nice view over the city. I have excellent wifi in my room, but my friend can't get a connection in hers. We are on the same floor, same side of the building, but about 10 rooms apart. Breakfast is nothing special, but enough to get you going for the day. I'd stay here again if I was just in town for the night.

Service & breakfast are very good but the rooms are shabby & small. The area around the hotel is frequented by prostitutes & drug addicts so it's not very safe at night.

The main reason for staying at this hotel is its location. I needed to be as close as possible to the bus station in order to catch a coach to Minsk first thing in the morning, and the hotel was ideal for this (as well as for the train station). The view over Vilnius is fantastic if you're in a north-facing room, justifying the hotel's name. However not everything is good. The wireless internet, despite being around 25Mbps downstream and upstream, often logs you out unexpectedly, meaning you frequently have to log back in on a web page. This is particularly annoying on a mobile phone where entry of the user name and password is cumbersome. The hotel should abolish this authentication system altogether as it services only annoys guests, and if necessary just use a simple WPA key. The hotel also suffers from a problem from the Soviet era, whereby the curtains are not wide enough for the windows, meaning that you are unnecessarily woken up early in the morning by sunlight. The walls are also very thin, meaning you can at least hear the language, if not the exact words, of those speaking in adjacent rooms. Despite the problems, I chose to stay a second time at the Panorama several days after my first stay because the location suited me better than some of the better hotels in Vilnius. However, I would never stay here more than one night in a row.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the north side of the 5th floor for the view over Vilnius. Avoid being next to the lift...
