“The center of the city”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

This impressive building is in the very center of the town, but the outer promises more than the interior has to offer. Now I evaluate it purely from an architectural point of view. Of course it offers a place of worship and an escape from the busy town, but if you're looking for "food for your eyes" you should check out the many Orthodox churches in town. The most interesting thing that I found int the Cathedral was the plaque that commemorated the visit by the pope.

“OK, but don't expect something like Cologne Cathedral!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

It's easy to forget that a lot of churches were used as warehouses or stables during Soviet times, so it's lucky that there are any churches in Vilnius at all. So don't expect lavish decorations, spires that go up a hundred metres into the sky, or any of that sort of stuff. This cathedral is quite plain in comparison with others, but its atmosphere is good. It also has quite an interesting sundial outside, recently installed (2012) which actually tells quite good time, when the sun is shining!

“A normal cathedral”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

like any other cathedral within europe, there wasn't much to see . Although the whole of the city revolves around this place and you will eventually come to this place, no matter where you go

“Impressive building, just doesn't remind me of church”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

One of the main sights of the Cathedral Square, you will not miss it, as it's large, shiny and impressive. I was surprised to learn it's actually a cathedral, because to me it doesn't look like a piece of sacral architecture. I would have liked to see this place used rather as a library or something of that kind, but then, my opinion is not important in this matter. What's important is that it contains lovely bits of decorations, especially under the main entrance arch and on top of the building. The stone carvings are really pretty. You can get inside, it's free and enjoy the view from the inside, but I have to say it isn't very remarkable in a way you won't remember it. Still a must see when in Vilnius.

“Very peaceful”

Light and airy yet very peaceful. Restful atmosphere. So pleased it's a cathedral again. Well worth wandering inside to appreciate the atmosphere and ponder.
