Quietly situated on a back street near all the sights, this literary-themed hotel is delightful.

Very helpful staff and spacious, nicely decorated rooms.

Vilnius makes a pleasant stop on the way home to the UK at the end of our "Peking to Petersfield" three week train journey.

Make sure you visit the KGB museum, helps you understand why the Baltic States
are such enthusiastic members of the EU and NATO.

Baths as well as showers would be my only recommendation.

Room Tip: The road outside can be noisy

This was our second stay at the Shakespeare (last time was 5 years ago) and truly hope it is not our last. Comfortable rooms and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. A visit to the restaurant for dinner is a treat; the "beet soup," a variety of borscht, is fabulous! My husband and I could not get enough of the Lithuanian eggs every morning with crepes for dessert. No buffet here - order all you want from the menu. Confused why this is not the highest rated hotel in Vilnius. Thank you, Shakespeare staff!

Room Tip: This hotel is a bargain, upgrade to a deluxe room and you will not be sorry.

If you use the hotel website to view each room (mostly named after authors), you will see the decor in each is unique. We booked one the the less expensive rooms and it was wallpapered with something my grandmother might have chosen in the 1940's. The charm of all the photos of T.E. Lawrence made up for any cheerfulness deficit caused by the wallpaper. Nitpicking things aside, this hotel is among the most conveniently located and is on a quiet, narrow street with practically no car traffic. It is the antithesis of the could-be-anyplace hotel. It oozes charm. The Globe Bar (and dining area) is a room people hate to leave. The food is excellent so don't overlook it beyond breakfast. Breakfast is a fabulous order-from-the-menu affair. The waitstaff are all very competent, friendly, and charming. I have only one serious complaint. Our kingsized bed, while very comfortable, was equipped with sheets that were not up to their intended task. The bottom sheet barely covered the side of the mattress with none left over to tuck under the mattress. We woke up in the morning with the sheet half off.

Room Tip: The website gives a detail description and photo of each room. Use it. The street is very quiet bu...

We stayed at the Shakespeare Boutique Hotel in Vilnius in May 2013 and loved every minute of our time there. The location is on a side street that connects to one of the main walking streets in Old Town, close to numerous restaurants and within easy walking distance of many major tourist sites. The hotel staff are exceptional and have well-developed English language skills. The room was spacious and comfortable, though we question the use of throw rugs on the polished wooden floors as they were a bit slippery. The breakfast was excellent, included in the price and was by individual order rather than buffet — a nice change from most hotels. The restaurant was top quality and we had several meals there. The bar area is also a reading room and has a good collection of books and comfortable seating in case you get rained in. We will definitely return to the Shakespeare Boutique Hotel if ever again in Vilnius.

Arrived in Old Town and just walked in and booked the Hotel room.
The Staff gave me a very nice wellcome, really liked my room, well decorated and named after an history Poem.
The Location is perfect, just few steps to old town and cathredal.
Breakfast and dinner is great. The staff in Service does a great Job, thanks!
Will come back by sure!

Vilnius Old Town (Senamiestis) is exceptional mixture of different times and cultures, which also can be sensed in its amazingly eclectic architecture (excuse me, experts and specialists in architecture - I am just a simple guy!). You can feel all of it in Shakespeare Boutique Hotel with a little touch of mixed literature, art and even cousine. In the matter of fact I really enjoyed it. It is not the best place for business trip (old town, traffic etc., but at the same time good parking, quick WiFi included!). However, a really good atmosphere made my stay there enjoyable.

Room Tip: Bigger rooms are better, big suites are the best :-)

I spent my last three nights in Vilnius at the Shakespeare Hotel based on other reviews provided on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. The hotel service was impeccable and the rooms were tastefully decorated. Each room is named by a famous author such as Thomas Hardy, Mark Twain, etc.

My favorite aspect of this hotel is the Globe Bar and the Summer Terrace. I spent quite a lot of time here. The terrace is small and it's best to get out there earlier rather than later if you want one of the three tables.

The location is just off of Piles (Castle) Street in the old town where there are lots of cafes and shops. It's great to sit there and people watch.

The Shakespeare is a little pricey, but worth it.

Room Tip: I would suggest staying on the upper floor versus the ground floor since people will be walking by t...
