“Glorious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

I stayed here many times from 2005-2007.

Although I found some of the menu at breakfast odd this was a minor aspect. It was glorious stay each time.

I have rarely been looked after so well by the staff. There were six waitresses who were so skilled and efficient they must have been to one of special training schools you read about in novels.

I stayed in so many of the rooms, for some reason they never gave me the same one twice. I recall my favourite was the Oscar Wilde one, however with the passage of time I am not sure if this was because I admire the writer or that the room was special.

I did drive them mad as during the day I went around turning off all the lights which blazed everywhere during daylight hours. When I told them it was conserve the planet they just laughed and turned them back on. I don't Lithuania is the greenest of countries.

Room Tip: One of the many ones I stayed had very noisy pipes. Sadly I can't remember which one.

Hotel located in the very center of Old Town in the calm street. Hotel building is a former Count Palace of Olizar family and interiors are very impressive. My room (Venice) have had a stunning view to St. Anne's Church, the most beautiful church in Vilnius. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, have tea facilities as a nice addition to standart equipment .

Service is excellent, very friendly staff with fluent English and Russian. Superb breakfasts. But I have to warn that breakfasts in Shakespeare Hotel aren't buffet style, they are served a la carte - so your day planning must allot 30-40 minutes for breakfast as a minimum.

Hotel is rather pricy but it's worth every penny.

Nice hotel in the old town. Free wi-fi and free parking. Helpful staff. Interesting interior. Spacious room and bathroom.
Ground floor rooms faceing the street were quite noisy. Also I had all the time unpleasant feeling thet people walking on the street could see what happens in the room.

Room Tip: avoid ground floor rooms faceing the street

This small hotel is hidden away in the heart of the beautiful old town area of Vilnius. I was booked into it by a Lithuanian colleague who knew of it. It is housed in a lovely old building and is low-key in the extreme .... no street signage! As you can guess, the hotel is Shakespeare-themed (I stayed in 'Othello') although Oscar Wilde and others also creep in to the quotes and the decor! It has real style, very cosy, very welcoming. What I particularly liked was that the restaurant is on the first floor (usually hidden away in basements in Lithuania!) and, even better, breakfast was served by really attentive staff! You can order a wide selection from the menu - it all arrived piping hot! A really pleasurable experience and highly recommended - just hope it's not now fully booked when I go back!

Room Tip: Probably go for a first-floor room, although the hotel is in a really quiet location.

This is a lovely boutique hotel situated in the old town. Excellent service, beautiful rooms (stayed in Romeo and Juliet with a large bathroom) and little extras like a drink voucher on arrival. The breakfast was delicious (a al carte) and the restaurants really cosy with sofas where you could take a drink or read a book.

We stayed at the hotel the first weekend of March. And what a hotel!
We had a superior room and enjoyed every minute. Very friendly and service minded staff - both at the reseption and in the bar and breakfastroom. The hotel was totally renovated 12-13 years ago, and every room is different from the others. We stayed in Mark Twain room - with a view towards the Gedimina Castle. The hotel is in walking distance from everything, has athmosphere and will be our favorite in Vilnius from now! (we have been in Vilnius several times the last 12 years and love this city).
