We decided to try Holy Mikos on our last night in Lithuania, and in Europe on this trip, because of its excellent TripAdvisor review. In this case, the restaurant definitely merited the good review.
The location is very nice; down a narrow side street off Pilies Street, the main Old Town drag in Vilnius, and ultra-convenient to our hotel, the Shakespeare. The venue is nice as well; a choice between a beautiful, olde world style interior with plenty of wood trim and beams in the ceiling, or outdoor seating along the tiny, narrow, car-free olde world street. The service was friendly, prompt, helpful, and English-fluent. But the food! That's what we go to a restaurant for, right? Superb, superb, superb. I had the Lithuanian mushroom soup with lamb dumplings for an appetizer, and the absolutely perfectly cooked venison filet for the main course. My only complaint: I couldn't have a second helping. Outstanding!! My wife had a beautifully prepared beet, arugula, and goat cheese salad, and for her main course, a superb pork filet roast on caraway/parsnip sauce and with a side of pork belly. OMG. Needless to say, we'd go back, but for the fact we fly home tomorrow. Highest possible recommendation!
