I see that several reviewers have had poor experiences at the Tilto. My experience was fine.

I tried to book through their website and found it difficult to use (to put it politely) so I ended up booking through booking.com. Hopefully they've fixed the website by now.

I asked, via email, for a taxi to meet me at the airport. It arrived on time and the price was as they told me it would be (and a lot less than colleagues paid who picked a taxi up at the airport taxi stand). The cost of the taxi ride was put on the hotel bill which is convenient if you don't have a lot of litas on hand when you arrive.

The lobby is nonexistant. Just a small desk at the bottom of the stairs. Some people were checking out as we were checking in and that alone created a traffic jam. At this stage I was pretty unimpressed. The room, on the other hand was exactly as advertised. Large clean room, with huge windows that opened to the street. A good firm bed, sofa, and wardrobe. They have free wi-fi, although you have to go down to the front desk and get a chit to use it. Not massively convenient but everyone seems to speak English pretty well and the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful

The bathroom was a good size, with a large shower.

The location was excellent, just a few metres from Cathedral Square. The old town of Vilnius is quite small so you can easily walk from the hotel, through cathedral square, and along Pilias Gatve all the way to the Gates of Dawn, which is at the other end of the old town. A "more central" hotel would hardly be any more central than the Tilto.

Breakfasts were okay. The coffee was marginal but the food was okay, and a bit different.

The "Guiness Bar" was a joke. You can go down into the basement in the evening and get a beer, but you'll probably be alone. I stay in smallish hotels in Europe a lot and I woundn't normally expect a small place like this to have a bar. I guess it's useful for them to pretend they do but really, they don't. There's lots of places to eat and drink a few metres away from the hotel.

In summary, my experience was fine. The front desk people were good, the room was excellent, the location was excellent, breakfasts were okay, they don't really have a bar/restaurant to speak of, or a lobby at all, but that's pretty unimportant to me.

I'd go back.

Tilto is just 100m meters from the main (shopping) street, 100m from the cathedral square and 500m from the old town main street, yet situtated on a quiet side street.
Rooms are very clean, hotel is just renovated in 2008 and some old bricks style roofs and walls are kept intact that give it a bit personality.

Spacy rooms, great service - overally a good place to "camp" or take a nap between shopping and continuing to evening stroll out at the old town.

Improvements could be made regarding breakfast (wide selection, maybe could have more simple stuff like few more youghurts, fruits, bread etc). Hotel corridors are also a bit narrow, but yet again differentiates from large hotel chains.

Did not try hotel sauna. Set fixed price with taxi or pay through hotel, to save. We fixed price on 50 LTL.

My fiancé and I stayed on Thursday 7th October for 2 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

If trying to find the hotel on foot for the first time, head for the Cathedral and you will see the Irish Embassy at a set of traffic lights, turn the corner up Tilto Gatve and walk up past the small Mexican restaurant, follow the road up to the right and it's on your left hand side.

I upgraded our room to duluxe before we went so can only really comment on that but it was fantastic. The size of the room was huge, decent sized bathroom with excellent shower and a small kitchenette area with normal sized fridge (very handy) and oven hobs

It was also very clean

Gedimino Prospektas is the main shopping street and it is round the corner plus the old town is minutes away too. Pilies Gatve is a nice street to walk down into the old town as it has market stalls and gift shops all the way down to the town hall. We walked almost everywhere during our visit but in the occasions we did use taxis we asked the pub/restaurant to phone it before hand and they were very reasonable rates.

If going out at night, make sure you visit the sky bar in the Raddison, the views are out of this world! I'd recommend getting a taxi there as it is over the water and a good 25mins+ walk.

We loved our time in Vilnius and I would recommend this hotel as the ideal place to base your trip

It is written in the website - the hotel is very clean... not really, sewerage could be stucked and you might feel very uncomfortable in the bathroom. Wireless internet ... not really, they will tell you - sorry, all gateways are busy. You are coming by car and hope to park it nearby the hotel ... not really, you might be asked to pay per parking the car in the parking place on the street. You are expecting to have nice dinner at the hotel's restorant... not really, you will be taken to the narrow bar room through storeroom.

We reserved a so called De Luxe room in this hotel - and following the description it shold have one big bed and a sofa bed, and ashat woul be we are not a couple that would be perfect for us.
But at the arrival we were given a room under the roof with a tiny window, dark as a prison cell and with a double bed!
It had a TV, that didn't work, no mini bar and no safety box. All together not what you would call De Luxe.
Of course we complained, and the receptionist then asked if we wanted an other room, which we certainly did, and we were then told, that we colud change the following day, as they didn't have any De Luxe room aviailable that day.
No excuse from the receptionist, who answered in an a very unfriendly tone.
Next day - in the afternoon - we then got a new room, with two single beds linked together, and with only one sheet!
Even that we complained again, we never got, what we had paid for.
In the hotel brochure, that we found in our room, much space was used to tell, that the owners were irish. However there was not much irish about it except for a couple of posters and the possibility to buy a Guiness in the bar.
In the brochure a number of services were described. Among other things the hotel offered to reseve a taxi, that vould cost 30 Lt.
We accepted this offer, and when the taxi arrived, the driver went into the hotel to talk to the receptionist. What he probably discussed with him we discovered only when we arrived to the airport and were asked to pay 60 Lt. (The normal fare should be around 15-20 Lt - 2,5 Lt. per kilometer).
The stay could have been very pleasant. The location is good, the hotel is clean, the breakfast rich.
But for the mentioned reasons it was a dreadfull experience.
