A very good place for a casual meal.

Considerably larger than a traditional bistro, Bistro 18 serves typical french / italian bistro style food in a friendly informal atmosphere.

The food is well prepared and presented. There is quite a wide variety on the menu - mostly drawn from the western european tradition: soups, risotto, confit of duck, escalope of veal in mushroom sauce, apple crumble, creme brûlée etc. Portion sizes were good.

Although the Bistro 18 wine list is extensive, the range of non-alcoholic drinks available is pretty sparse - Coke, Sprite and a small number of fruit juices. However they were happy to provide a carafe of tap-water and some ice-cubes, a refreshing change from the 'you must pay for the water' attitude we've encountered elsewhere in Lithuania.

We went on a Saturday night, and booked ahead for evening meal (we called at 4pm same day) thanks to Tripadvisor comment. The restaurant got busy around 8pm and was turning potential customers away from soon after 7:30pm: if we had not booked we would not have got in. Serving staff were helpful and attentive, and all spoke pretty good english.

Our meal (3 x starters, 4 x main, 3 x desert, one glass of house wine and a coffee) came to a shade under 300 Lt and we thought was very good value for money.

Bistro 18 fully deserves its high ranking in Tripadvisor, It doesn't push any boundaries and appears to be set up to attract english speaking tourists looking for familiar food. But it executes against this brief very well, and we certainly would go back on a future trip to the city.

This place is slightly more expensive than most other restaurants around. However we (two of us) still had three course meal, glass of wine and only came to about 130. Really great choice of wines and food was lovely (obviously high quality ingredients used).

We selected this restaurant after reading Tripadvisor for dinner on a Monday evening. Luckily for us we made a reservation in the afternoon, because it was packed! The menu and wine list were extensive, too much to choose from! The starters, scallops and potted prawns we excellent. The mains, veal and duck breast were top notch! And for dessert, apple crumble and creme brûlée, yummi! An absolute must for foodies.

We went to Bistro 18 because after a very food-intensive weekend we were looking for a "lighter" meal. The food offered is not traditional Lithuanian but we were amazed with the quality of the dishes. The soups and salads we had were delicious and the risotto was also very good. We had 3 dishes (soup, salad and risotto, which ended up to be more than enough) and a dessert shared among two and we paid 30 litas each (less than 10€) with no wine/ beer. Especially recommend the warm goat cheese salad!
