The Sand Dunes were wonderful, the finest pale beige coloured sand. Dotted at the top of the dunes were wild roses. They were shocking pink and so strongly fragranced, heaven. The rollers came forcefully on to the beach. My Husband had to be the only one in our party who just had to rush in to the chilly Baltic Sea. So many birds we saw preparing to migrate to a warmer climate. Finches were in abundance, all calling to each other as they dived up and down over the dunes calling to each other, their numbers rapidly growing.
We went in to the National Park more and found where the Cormorants nest. Apparently some Students from Lithuania had counted some 3,000 nests - what an amazing place.
We also visited old fishing villages seeing the old houses of the Fishermen.
We then caught a boat and cruised along the Curonian Split back up to Klaipeida.
Amazing - beautiful Country.
