Well the rumour was going for some time in Lithuanian media, that they‘ve got a proper place to eat, so I decided to try it out this weekend. And Le Rouge definitely lived up to expectations the interior was nicely designed, but not distracting. The service was pleasant, competent but not obtrusive. But the most important feature was food. Duck a l‘Orange was excellent, lamb cutlets were soft and juicy, pate was perfectly seasoned and served with blue onion jam, chocolate soufflé was superb. Well, maybe scallops were a wee bit overdone, but this did not spoil our dinner. They have nice menu of Alsace wines also. Maybe not the most expensive, but you must think of the patrons’ buying capacities and the restaurant is not a budget one in Lithuanian standarts. Simple dinner with some wine will ease your pocket by 60-70 Litas (17-20 EUR) which is quite high price in the country. But if you are in Kaunas and in for good food – Le Rouge is the place!
