SNP Square is one of the largest squares in Bratislava and is covered in the guided walking tours of the old city. It has historically been a venue of public protests and is now a venue for concerts and rallies. There are statues in memory of the Slovak National Uprising of 1944

The Slovak National Uprising Square also known as ,Namestie SNP is one of an interesting place to visit in Bratislava. It is the location where many of the protests against the communist regime where held back in 1989. It is also where you can find the statues built in honour of the Slovak Uprising in 1944 against the pro-Nazi Slovak government. They are quite drab and dark, somewhat of a reminder of the period which followed under communist rule. There is a church with an nice facade but we didn't visit the inside and a couple additional attractive buildings on the square. Otherwise, we found little else to see here as visitors.

Overall, a historically important location in the city center area but perhaps not a priority for those visiting Bratislava on a quick trip. The Main square and the nice Hviezdoslavovo Namestie located within the city center are more interesting if you are short on time. If you are visiting the city for a a few days, you can quickly make a stop at the Namestie SNP, its very near to Micheal's Gate.

This is the place where we won against the communism in the 1989 (November). Place where we have to go, but nothing really to see. In the revolutionarry times it was overcrowded (15.000-30.000 people ringing theur keys on keychains against the regime)
Powerfull emotions for people who had been there in THE TIME

As the previous reviewer already mentioned, enter the main Post Office building and be surprised. You need to look around some of the buildings around the SNP square to properly appreciate it as you might be discouraged by a stray beggar or homeless here adn there. I would recommend seing the Old Market Hall as well as the Bratislava Flagship Restaurant - their interiors are just huge. Great view over the square and this part of town from KC Dunaj rooftop terrace (you need to enter from the other side of Dunaj shopping centre on Nedbalova st. and take the elevator up to the fourth floor).
