Owner description: Historic neighborhood filled with charming narrow lanes, burgher's houses and nobles' palaces in addition to many of the city's important buildings such as the former Palace of the Hungarian Estates, the late-Gothic building of the Academia Istropolitana and the Leopold de Pauli Palace where Franz Liszt performed as a child.

Bratislava is neither a big city nor a village. Somewhere in between. The "old town" is actually quite modern with pletiful bars, cafes, restaurants. I only saw it during Advent, when it was cold, so I cannot comment on what it is like in the summer. Very pretty, I would imagine!

No need to repeat what has been already said about this amazing old town. I just want to add that I got astonished when I found out that in the town hall's square some Slovakians were giving out free cold water in plastic cups for tourists. A very thoughtful and caring gesture !!!! Thank you :)))

This is a small town that you can easily walk around. I can get quite crowded. The architecture is beautiful and there is a lot if restaraunts and shops. look for the statues around town and the cannon balls lodged in to buildings.

We arrived on a sunday during our interaill. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer than a day and a night! The people were so friendly! Some of the most helpful friendly staff of the whole trip. The town is gorgeous. We didn't plan a route instead, took a wander exploring lots of interesting shops and stopping off at various bars along the way! We will definatly return!

We were there on a sunday so quite a lot was closed shop wise, but there was still lots to see and do, in fact it actually made exploring the old streets better as it was very peaceful wandering round.

The main thing is about the historical centre is that it is tiny! It is a nice walk, but it usually takes about 3 hours at most even if you include the castle! Otherwise, after a lot of years, the city has stopped a lot of construction work when the season! The area offers most of the beautiful city architecture and a lot of charming walks in tiny streets. The main attractions are St. Martin Cathedral, National Theatre, Michael's Gate and a lot of others. If you go in December, Xmas markets are a must!
