I enjoyed my stay. Bed was the most comfortable I came across on my holiday. Very central and easy to find.
But sadly that's where the positives end, and it only just gets a rating of 3 from me.
There were no towels when we arrived. We went to reception and told them, and they just didn't care and I had to continue to ask for towels. They offered 1 towel even though I was standing there with my partner. I requested 2. They were delivered to our room, but no bath mat. Called reception and they insisted they didn't have any. Thought it might have been a language barrier so tried to explain. They hung up on me.
The next day when room was made up, there were magically bath mats.
The shower was blocked but after the towel issue I just couldn't be bothered complaining.
Breakfast was hugely average as well.
Don't think I would return to this hotel.

We decided to stay an extra night in Bratislava and, unfortunately, our first option was completely booked. Therefore, we decided to book a room here.

It's close to both the bus station under the SNP bridge and the old town. For those coming from/going to the train station, bus #93 passes close by every fifteen minutes.

Breakfast is served by the main entrance, which means that the area close to the front desk gets overcrowded easily.

The staff at the front desk was polite, but seemed to be swamped with work.

The IBIS is a good standard hotel with a great location. The staff are hard working and make every effort to make it fine for your stay. The hotel is five minutes away from the Old Town which is very good. There is one drawback - one side of the hotel is beside the trams. If you leave the window open the trams will wake you up at 4am with squealing brakes, if you close the windows the rooms get hot so you can put on the air con. TIP: if you are bothered about the noise, ask for a room not on the tram side - but on balance the location of the hotel outweighs the drawback.

Breakfast - is a standard continental one with scrabbled eggs and sausage but is fine.

I would use the hotel again as the location and standard is good. The security was notable as well, which is reassuring.

Other tips: Go to the Tourist information office and obtain a day pass for public transport costs 10 Euros and includes a free walking guide which takes about an hour or so. The guide is worth it.

Wear comfortable walking shoes - there are many cobbles in the Old Town.

Avoid the standard pubs in the main street to the squares - there was a lovely cellar bar called Stormon 50 yards from the Irish Pub which is on the right handside leading to the main square. Go downstairs: they are very friendly and the beer is cheaper and the food is fine - including mid morning coffee.

Opera House - the seats are £8 for the cheapest tier - they will try to sell you the boxes but hold out for the £8 ones. The locals dress up for the opera so don't be surprised if you are the most casually dressed ones there. Well worth a visit even if you are not a big user.

Public transport - very cheap, but takes a little while to sort out. The trams numbers 5 and 9 pass the hotel and go under a tunnel get off at the Kapucinska stop before the hotel . Go out to the districts and then turn around and come back. You will see the typical old eastern block flats rather than the tourist centres. The tram maps are not easy to obtain.

Buses - near the hotel bus 93 (farside) goes to the central railway station and from there you can get bus 61 to the airport. You can get a ticket from a machine for 15 minutes or longer. Select the ticket first then put your money in! You can go from the airport for 2 euros or less or pay 30 euros for a taxi!.

Day trip to Vienna: go from the railway station costs about 13 euros on a dated train. When you arrive in Vienna (Wien) you can use the U1 underground to go three stops to the centre. Trains run 2 hourly off peak and one hourly at other times. It takes about one hour +. Take your passport just in case although we were not asked - the conductors change at the borders and you are asked for your tickets twice.

Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room not on the tram side

I have spend there five nights and except excellent location I found this hotel as a total average. Service was OK but not very friendly, we needed to wait for everything and breakfasts wasn't that good as we expected for hotel of this kind.

My wife and I stayed on the Ibis Centrum Bratislava for 2 nights on the 19th and 20th September 2013. This is an excellent choice for anyone wanting an affordable, comfortable staff in the heart of Bratislava 'Old Town'. As others have pointed out it is a very secure (unnervingly so at times) hotel just a stones throw from the 'Old Town' so all major attractions are within walking distance. The hotel staff were efficient although not particularly friendly (although maybe we were spoiled by the staff at the Ibis Budget in Krakow who were super friendly and smiley) and the rooms comfortable.

With the Ibis brand you know what to expect and they rarely disappoint and this is certainly the case with the Bratislava Centrum Ibis. Should we return to the Slovak capital this will be top of our list when looking for accommodation.

Room Tip: We were at the fron of the hotel and therefore had a bit of Tram noise on occasion. At room at the...

My wife and I decided that during our stay in the Czech Republic, it would be a good idea to vist the Slovak republic. We chose to stay at the Ibis Bratislava Centrum. An excellent choice.
The Hotel was clean, secure and very well managed. The staff, from cleaners, waiters and receptionists were highly efficient. The hotel is situated about 500m from the centre of the old town and is easily accessible. We did not eat in the hotel, the old town is full of restaurants and bars all providing excellent food. Beer and wine the same standard as the Czech Republic. Prices were maginally more than what we paid in the Czech Republic, due to Slovakia taking on the Euro. However, what we paid was nothing near what we pay in the UK.
Two major points: 1. We travelled by train from Blansko to Bratislava a journey taking about an hour and a half. We stood all the way. When you buy a ticket please book your seat as well. 2. The taxi that took us from the station to the Ibis charged us 15 Euros, we later discovered that there was a standard charge of 8 Euros. Book your taxi when you book your hotel. Notwithstanding that we would recommend the Ibis Hotel and Bratislava old town to all.

As others have said, a typical Ibis hotel - no complaints about room (except the temperature - oppressively hot of an evening, even with air-con) but the standout feature is the location - right underneath the castle, and a 5 minute walk to the heart of Bratislava.

A very good base if you intend to stay in Bratislava.
