“Dont do this on a hot day”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2012

There is disparity betwwen the address shown and the map.The map shows that this is the Natural History Museum near the river but the address is that of the castle.I will review the Natural History museum as others have done. This contains much that you would expect in a museum of this type.Lots of stuffed animals and expositions about the way the area was formed. The main disappointment is the failure to drag museums like this into the 21st Century in terms of exposition. It is very old fashioned as is the building. It was a very hot day and the building felt like a sauna. So i just had to give up as the heat was overpowering.

“Interesting exhibition of Slovak Folklore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

This museum is located by the international jetties between the new and old bridges. The museum comprises an extensive collection of natural history exhibits, examples of Slovakian folklore, costumes and paintings and an interesting photographic exhibition of Gypsy folk of around 70 years ago. I will admit to calling in at this museum whilst waiting for the Danube Hydrofoil but it was an intriguing and value for money couple of hours.

Note that this museum is one of many under the Slovak National Museum umbrella.

“City History Museum is amazing! Others are just ok.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2012

This is like the Smithsonian in DC in that there are several museums associated with the institution of the "Slovak Museum." I wish they had a ticket that would get you into all the museums and more information on where each of the museums are. I kind of felt like I was all on my own as far as finding them, and I didn't quite understand the prices--some of the small ones were more expensive than the larger ones. Maybe consider offering a flat rate that will get you into all of them?

City History Museum: Take a whole day and spend it in here! It’s quite an impressive collection of stuff, and it’s laid out well. Things range from BC to present 20th century culture! Definitely wish I had allotted more time there and hope to go back! Don’t miss going up to the top of the clock tower and get a bird’s eye view of the main market square!

Bratislava Castle Museum: Definitely worth it! It’s still under reconstruction, but the exhibits that are open to the public are pretty interesting. They have stuff all the way from 800 BC to the 19th century AD. Walk the castle grounds and take in the views! Even the gift shop people were nice, which I have found to be the exception all over the world and not the rule!

Slovak Natural History Museum: Cool if you’re into natural history. Skip it if you don’t love rocks and plants and animals.

Pharmacy Museum: Small, but if you're a pharmacist or interested in medicine, it's a really cool place to visit.
