“Another, Solid Hit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2012

We just came got back from a visit to, Patronsky Pivovar. I had only heard of this place the day before, while perusing Google Earth, in the vicinity of, Horsky Park. Today, my wife and I were out and about, and happened to be passing by, when we saw a very inviting looking establishment, full of people sitting, eating and drinking, in the windows, as we drove by. We circled around, found a parking spot, and went in.

Upon entering, Patronsky Pivovar, there is a children's playground, and beer garden (nice picnic tables and umbrellas) and covered deck for outdoor eating. Inside there is a large non-smoking section in a glass enclosed porch. Though I didn't tour the entirety, there is at least one pool table in a side room.

We both ordered the garlic soup w/cheese (traditional recipe). For the main course, my wife ordered a pork dish w/saurkraut and potato dumplings, while I ordered the baby back ribs (bravcove rebeirka). The soup was right on target, hot and delicious, with melted cheese hiding in the bottom of the bowl (this is normal). My ribs were perfect, a full rack of perfectly done pork ribs served with two different dipping sauces. One sauce a creamy garlic sauce, which I only tasted, but didn't use. The other, a barbecue style sauce, which was rather good. For those customers from the US, looking for Texas/Tennessee style taste (i.e., smokey) you won't find it hear. It's a different kind of cooking, but nonetheless, fall-off-the-bone, delicious!

My wife liked her dish very much, and only remarked that the pork was slightly on the dry side, but later changed her mind when she tossed all the food together, which brought up some sauces/juices from the bottom of the plate, making for a more moist palate. She said that she would have no problem recommending her dish, too!

So, chalk up another HIT, at least with us, for a great Pivovar experience, just outside the Bratislava core limits. From city center (Kollarovo Nam., or Hodzovo Nam.) take trolleybus 207 to it's northwest terminus, Valašska. Patronsky Pivovar is right there!

“The best places are always outside the centre!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2012

Patrónsky Pivovar is a microbrewery and restaurant to the north west of the city centre. Due to it's location it's here primarily for locals and is thus not full of tourists or stag parties - great! Catch the 34 or 83 buses to Dúbova and it's across the dual carriageway. Beers brewed are svetlý (light) or tmavý (dark) both priced at 1,70€ for 0.5l. Menu, which is also available in English, is extensive and there is free unsecured Wi-Fi. Food is good quality, however the beer goulash I had did have quite a few fatty bits in it. Overall well worth making the short trip out of town to visit.

“Yes , good microbrewery restaurant along the freeway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2011

Sounds wierd, but really just as you enter outskirts of Bratislava pass Tesco and McDonald on left hand side ( coming from Prague or Brno ).Continue about 1km and go through large intersection and straight after on right hand sid aprox 500 m. is converted 70s socialist leftover into trendy ,micro brewery and surprisingly good restaurant. .Probably based on "Gastro Pub " with eastern european and european kitchen .
If you are on the budget try their "Ponuka dna" ( It is budget daily menu -daily offer ). Every day something different , but always soup, main and dessert for !!! EU 3.90.
If money no object and you like to eat ,Roasted Pork knuckle EU 14.90 but...it is 1.70 kg or 3.75 pounds , excellent for sharing unless you are superman.
and with all the food their brew "Patron svetly _ Patron Blonde ) 0.5 liter 11.5 alc. EU 1.70.
