The Hotel Visegrad is a modern family run hotel right on the Danube in the picturesque town of Visegrad. It has two wings, one built in 2001, and a more recent addition. Both are very clean, well decorated and comfortable. Indeed, the decor in the 2001 wings is somewhat more cozy and warm. There are views of the Danube from most rooms. The ancient monuments, such as King Mathias's renaissance castle, and the fortifications of Solomon's Tower are easily reachable from the hotel, and there are a number of reasonably priced restaurants nearby - Don Vito's Pizzeria is particularly recommended. The breakfast is very nice, with a good selection of fruit, yoghurts, cold cuts, egg dishes and bakery products. the hotel also has a remarkably nice wellness section, with an indoor swimming pool, a separate spa pool, and outdoor swimming pool, as well as steam room, bio sauna, finnish sauna and solarium. The wellness rooms look over the Danube and the mountains opposite - very well designed and relaxing! The cost is very reasonable, at around 70 Euro per room, with breakfast (depending on season, presumably). The reception was friendly and helpful, and the hotel seems to be very well run and maintained.

Room Tip: The rooms in the older wing built in 2001 are just as nice as the rooms in the newer wing, and somew...

We stayed last week-end at Hotel Visegrad. The hotel is located in the center of the town. The building is modern, and it's very remarkable that attention has been paid to details and good quality materials were used for the construction and for furnishing the rooms. We stayed in a duplex family room with views on the Danube. Although the room was not as big as I expected it was very comfortable. The wellness part has an outdoor and two indoor pools, two saunas, a salt chamber and a steam room. The restaurant is large and stylish, and while slightly expensive by Hungarian standards the meals were very good, and we appreciated the playroom located by the restaurant that kept the kids busy.

Altogether I would say that while the hotel is not luxurious it is absolutely comfortable and actually quite good value - we paid around 70 euros for the family room including breakfast and use of the wellness section.

The only negative opinion about this hotel is, that amenities are all right, but it could be much better. The location is wonderful, but other things could be improved: a bigger spa, a modern business center, wider choice in the restaurant. Anyway, it was a pleasant and very positive stay!

Room Tip: Your room should go to the River Danube, don't miss it!

Just recently got back from a short trip to Visegrád and the freshly expanded Hotel Visegrád. The new highlight is mainly the SPA, however the friendliness of the staff needs to be mentioned. Go for a package that includes a traditional dinner at the Renaissance Restaurant. It is not only a dinner, but like a feast of the best!
Superb location, attentive service for a decent price!

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the new part of the hotel facing the Danube!
