“Perfect location, good accomodation, bad lunches”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

As I was having my business trip in Székesfehérvár, the company which I work for booked this hotel.
I must admit that the hotel is located in perfect venue. The city center is very close (at a walking distance).
The romms are very spacious, well equipped and comfortable (satellite TV - not big choice of English, German or French TV channels, mosty Hungarian, wifi connection - working very well).
Regarding the board, the food served on breakfast was very delicious, However the lunches were not very good and this was the only negative point that I experienced during my stay there.

Szekesferhervar is a lovely city which should be on any visit to Hungary. The city has many museums including the tomb of King Stephen (Istvan) and beautiful buildings. It is also an ideal location to visit the nature filled Lake Velence or Lake Balaton.

Magyar Kiraly is a very good hotel in the centre. If you came here in the past be aware that it has been completely refurbished and is probably the most improved hotel in Szekesfehervar.

Features of the hotel
- Completely refurbished hotel which is now a very high standard.
- Rooms are comfortable and well equiped. All rooms have free wifi, internet tv, coffee making facilities and comfortable beds and for religious a multilingual bible. Many rooms also have a bath.
- Rooms are clean and staff are polite and friendly.
- The hotel is in an excellent location, positioned on the end of Szekesferhervar's main street of the Old Town, with many museums, churches and restaurants. It is also in walking distant to Tescos, shopping centre and bowling alley.
- Breakfast offers a good range of hot and cold food.

The styling in the main hotel is Medieval with suits of Armour in the lobby. It is pleasant but feels a little faux.
Breakfast only opens at 7am so if you need an early start other hotels in Szekesferhervar open earlier.
There is amble parking immediately outside the hotel but you may need to defrost the car. It is free 6pm to 8am, but you need to purchase a parking permit from the hotel if you are parked outside these times. Wardens are visbile.
A number of TV chanel but only English TV chanel available is CNN

Hotel Magyar Kiraly has very good location close to city centre and it next build next to local theatre. Building of this hotel looks very nice and historical from outside, but don´t expect too much historical design inside or in your room. Rooms are spacious, clean and well functional. Reception stuff accommodating, but maybe a little bit reserved. Some nice smile lifts your mood after long trip. What is really good is hotel restaurant. I can recommend it to everybody! Also breakfast was very good, with wide selection. I consider for small disadvantage a parking place in front of the hotel. It is public one, I suppose, so no reserved and free parking places or hotel and parking itself is in bad condition. But is evaluation of the hotel and not parking place. So my full recommendation for this hotel.

The Hotel Magyar Kiraly is a wonderful old world hotel in the charming city of Szekesfehervar, Hungary. Located at the bottom end of the city's town center, this hotel, over 200 years old, is located along a cobblestone street, next to the grand theater.

While the interior and exterior features are expressways to an earlier age, the venue offers some surprisingly modern touches such as free wifi, an up-to-date workout facility, well-lit bathrooms, and satellite TV. Also, for those of you who enjoy playing the odds, there's an attached casino that seems more like a game room than what most folks tend to expect of such things.

The rooms come in various sizes ranging from a tiny single all the way up to 4 apartments. Each room has a desk, table, small closet, private bath, and a mini-fridge. Power is plentiful with atleast one outlet per wall being free, but make sure to bring a international adapter WITH surge control. Watching the status light on mine blink like LED firefly was a bit worrisome, but nothing bad seems to have happened to my laptop or Nook.

Facilities beyond the ones mentioned above include a small bar, restaurant, and ballroom. One downside to the hotel is that when events occur in the ballroom, the noise easily spills into the rooms upstairs. One thing you can say on the Hungarian people is that they can be loud when they're partying!

The restaurant offers a couple of meals per day, except for Sunday, when there's an extended brunch, but nothing in the evening. Breakfast is a nice buffet spread with eggs, a couple of meat choices, beans, rice, deli options, and more bread than the average person should eat in a month! One word of warning, if the hotel has a low occupancy rate, they will suspend the breakfast buffet. You can still order items ala carte, but you do lose the breadth of choices.

Evening service is tasty, though the choices are unspectacular. Mostly, it's meat and potatoes with a token sprig of vegetation. Not unexpected in Hungary, but still nothing to write home about.

All in all, the Hotel Magyar Kiraly is a pleasant step back in time. Mixed with its surroundings of the town square, it offers visitors a step into the path, while providing the modern options that many of us expect.

We spent a week in this hotel with our family in the summer. Szekesfehervar was perfect for its closeness to Balaton and Budapest as well (about mid-way). We were also lucky to see the summer historical tradition festivities in Szekesfehervar which happened on each week-end in August.

The hotel is conveniently located on the main street of the old town, plenty of restaurants on the street and surroundings.

The hotel is very nice, quite good buffet in the morning, with fresh food. The rooms were very clean; we have got an extremely large room for the two kids (aged 5 and 7) sleeping on an expanded couch, for absolutely no extra cost (!), and there was still plenty space in the room for a spacious office and sitting TV area.

Room Tip: Booking your stay directly through the hotel is advisable especially when traveling with kids, as th...

I've stayed in this hotel with a friend about a month ago.
We were there to go watch our favorite footballteam play the local club Videoton FC and soon discovered that our team also stayed in this hotel. Since this town didn't seem to have a lot of big tourist attraction we wondered if the hotel could handle such an amount of guest but were pleasintly surprised by the staff and there effort to make everyone feel at home.

Rooms were nice, clean and bathroom was well equiped. Hotel was nicely decorated and had special terrace for smokers.

Since we only stayed here for one night we didn't go sightseeing so can't comment on the location but there are some bars just across the square in front of the hotel. (Prices did seem a bit higher then average Hungarian prices).

Breakfast was really delicious and even after having served an entire footballteam and their staff everything was still available so compliments for that.

I stayed here on business in June. The hotel has a good central location which enables you to explore the historical town. I was disappointed when I opened the door to my room as it was very small with a single bed. Very kindly my colleague gave me his room which as very large with a double bed and comfortable seating – interestingly when we checked out we both paid the same room rate ! Breakfast was OK.
