“Great resort out of season, too crowded in August”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

I have stayed in this Hotel two times this year. Once in May and second time in August. First time was lovely, the second time was too crowded and I didn't enjoy much. Hotel is good, you can see that a lot of money was invested into redecoration but you can still see the reminisce of the old socialism.
Love that the reception has staff that speaks Serbian, and at the reception they speak English. The other staff is not so good with foreign languages which is a big minus.
Love the silent wellness.
Anyway good hotel, great pools, but not in July and August. And it is for a short break only, more than two days is boring. I have stayed there with by BF.

I stayed in the hotel for a long weekend last July. I must admit that I red the other reviews and I was a little bit of surprised about a few negative comments. I can say only good things about the hotel.
It is very conveniently located, easy to reach to city center by bus or tram, or by only 10 minutes walk. The environment is nice and peaceful. The rooms are nicely done, quite big, they even have a balcony. The hotel has a fresh atmosphere, well maintained, very clean. The hotel stuff are very friendly and helpful and which is hard to find in Hungary, has language skills as well.
Our package included the entrance fee to the Aquapark which is huge, with a lot of different in and out doors pools. It can be very crowded in the summer, but it is a huge area, so you can find quiet place for yourself, if you want to. My favorite is a wellness area. Beautifully designed, several hot tub and swimming pools, saunas, in and outdoors. Children are not allowed, so it is a great place the relax. I wish all the wellness hotel had the same design.
The restaurant area is big, there is no waiting to sit down. We had buffet style breakfast and dinner. The chef is really excellent, the food is delicious and appetizing. Huge selection, mainly from the Hungarian kitchen which I like very much.
The price of the hotel is generally moderate, except the drinks. A cocktail costs double as any other places, which is very expensive. This is a western price and not Hungarian price.
I have stayed in many hotels in Europe and in Asia. According to my experience Hotel Forrás is an excellent choice, especially comparing with other Hungarian hotels. The management obviously tries to reach the European standard and they are doing a god job.

Clean and comfortable - a mecca for families but not so busy that you are not afforded the personal attention you require. Would recommend and hopefully one day we will visit again from Australia. The Aquapolis was convenient and short stroll connected to the hotel. A must to also book a massage during your visit

Room Tip: All rooms appeared to be good, quiet street and central to the city and public transport. If you ha...

We have taken a winter holiday in Forras Hotel last January right after the New years. It was so surprisingly nice and clean and comfortable that we are now planning to do the second winter holiday there. The spa center and all the indoor aqua park amenities were excellent and fun all the way. Everything is properly maintained and everyone is so helpful. The variety of food was truthfully amazing. And special menus for kids both for breakfast and dinner. Entering the entire place and the spa with the bracelet makes life so much easier. Would definitely recommend for families with kids. The memorable evening was the Christmas eve swimming outdoors in a hot spa while its snowing.

We got a family suite with two rooms. The hotel is directly connected with Aquapolis so it was really convenient to go to the beach every time. If you are by car it's free of charge to park in the covered lot of Aquapolis all you need is to ask for a parking ticket at the hotel's reception. The staff is truly kind the best ones are in the restaurant, Downtown of Szeged is a 10 mins walk away and as you need to cross Tiszta river it's really relaxing. The hotel doesn't really entertain itself as a family-hotel but I need to admit that this was the best hotel for children we've ever stayed in Hungary. If I need to point a negative thing out is the daily cleaning of the room. They always came late afternoon and they only change towels and bins...But overall it's really recommend especially with children.

We went to Szeged for the Relaxation and Spa, provided by Aquapolis, and we booked a room at Forras. And they didn't let us down. We had a special offer which included breakfast and dinner, free entrance to Aquapolis, all day long, and three hours in the quiet wellness treatments. The food was good and we had a wide range to choose from, the services were fine, the rooms nice and clean. But I wouldn't give it a 4* but a 3* plus.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with shower cabin rather then bath tube.

We stayed at this hotel only for one night, so our experience is limited.
Front desk staff was extremely kind and helping, english speaking.
The room was on a third floor, oriented towards Tisza river and hotel gardens; very nice, comfortable and spacious. Very comfortable king size bed for two, baby cot for our two-year-old. Two armchairs and a coffee table inside, and two chair but no table on the balcony! One of the things that I prefer most in the hotel room is the wall to wall carpet. They've got it!
Bathroom is clean, although not very spatious.
If you're visiting Szeged and want to look aroung the city, maybe this hotel is not your first choice, although it's not so far away from the city center. But, if you want to spend some time in the nearby Aquapolis (aquapark) than it's the right one, especialy if you're traveling with kids. As there's a closed connection, pasarella, between the hotel and the aquapark, it's perfect for you to dress up in your own room and go to the pools. You don't need your wallet and you also do not need your room key, because as a hotel guest, your get a wrist bracelet which opens your room and can be used to charge your room number...
Food: our package did not include dinner, and after the time spent in the aquapark, we didn't have strength to go out to eat, so we decided to have a dinner at the hotel restaurant. On a 1-5 scale, together with tomorrow's breakfast, let's say between 2.5-3 - I think that a four star hotel should have much better food. And waaaaaaaaay much better coffee.
Wifi reception is poor to none!
I read that prices in the hotel bar are high. Didn't have time to try, but as I checked the mini bar in the room, I didn't notice any excessive prices (1.7€/can of coke).
If you choose a room that looks over the inner courtyard and a park, you will definately enjoy the silence! However, I don't believe rooms with a street view could have much problem with the noice, since it's a very small street.
Parking is free for hotel guests in the underground garage* under the Aquapark (if there's a free spot!)
*I noticed that there's a sign above the garage entrance that says "no LPG vehicles allowed inside".
