Nice food, venue, everything is clean, but the service can be a bit better, begining from the welcome desk to the waiters.

People from Vojvodina usually go shopping in Szeged for decades. We love it, we enjoy it, it is a lovely town. Also as far as I remember we always have lunch in Halaszcsarda. As we did last Saturday. It is probably the best restaurant of this kind in 300 km radius. Fish soup is excellent, fish is fresh and staff very kind. The portions are abundant and you really get good value for money spent. And for those who do not it fish there is meat and a lots of it! Duck is brilliant and fried goose liver is delicious.

We went to this restaurant especially to taste the famous hungarian fishsupe at it's home. They got me a little cauldron full of it, I hardly managed to eat it, it was a huge portion, served as it should, tasty and warm enough. Not so my girlfriend's goulash soup, which for tasty was tasty enough, but lacked the optimal temperature.
Regarding the environment, tastes and opinions are different, but i don't really like the pushy attitude of those music bands singing in restaurants, surrounding your table willing to play your favorite song or not necessary your favorite, but the main idea is making you put some dime in the jukebox. And they were very loud. But I think tradition must be respected and if the tradition in this restaurant is this, who am I to complain?

Very good food with ok prices. The interior is very pleasant and the four piece gypsy band with cimbalom was first rate which is hard to find these days in Hungary. Pick a table some distance away from the musicians because they may seem loud if you are close. Very good service.

The restaurant is in a very quiet area, next to the Roosevelt park and Tisza river. If the weather is good, sit outside on the terrace, because it's very relaxing to watch all those people passing by, dogs playing, etc. The fish soup is very tasty and it's a huge portion (for 2-3 people). The staff is nice and if you ask for recipes they will be very happy to tell. Order the mixed dessert plate for a peak into their very yummy desserts. An if this wasn't nice enough, live local music will definitely set the mood.
