Strongly recommended! Inexpensive relative to chain hotels, but not lacking in quality.

Location is within a 5 minute walk of the Cathedral, 10 minutes to the main square. Free parking, which is hard to find so close to downtown. Fully renovated rooms with air conditioning and well appointed bathrooms (good water pressure in showers too).

Breakfast buffet is top notch, ranging from yoghurt and muesli to scrambled or sunny side eggs, stewed peppers, full selection of coldcuts, rolls, jams etc.

Tips:
- Not a lot of English spoken, but staff very friendly and helpful
- Try to get a room on the east side; away from traffic and hot afternoon sun
- Lower floors are cooler in summer
- Parking is across the street; go to front desk to have them lift the bar
- Beds are European singles, comfortable but narrow for larger guests; push two together for a double bed
- Cash payment only, no credit cards at present
- Small fridge in room is very handy

We were absolutely satisfied with this cosy, small hotel. It has a great location very close to the city centre, its own parking lot, free wi-fi, lift and 24-hour reception, where everyone was totally friendly. Also the breakfast was wonderful, helpful staff, fresh food hot and cold. Rooms were ok, clean, well equiped. Check-out at 11 is also advantage. We would definitely come again.

Our Hungarian friends booked us there for four nights. Walking distance to center city. Clean with good service. Breakfast buffet is full and included. More than enuf to keep you going into afternoon. Air conditioned and individually controlled. Fine three start hotel at value prices. As American visitors to Pecs we found it a nice location to enjoy this lovely city without needing our car.

Stayed in this hotel during a conference trip to Pecs in 2010. It just so happened that Pecs was hosting the European capital of culture that year so that was an added bonus. Pecs was a pleasant surprise: modern, clean, the old city centre beautifully resotred. The same goes for this hotel - a small gem just out of the old city centre near the old fort in the city walls (hence the name). I was allocated a room (these are huge, by the way!) in the top floor which gave me a beautiful view of the city's roofs and a bit of a park. It was quite astounding. The food was good, the survice was very nice - as was the whole experience. If you happen to be in Pecs this hotel won't dissapoint you. Neither will Pecs.
