It is one of the oldest hotels in Heviz and probably the closest to the famous thermal lake. The distance from the hotel to its main entrance is just about 300 m which is likely to take you less than 10 minutes. The hotel is located in not a busy street, but if you wish to stay in an absolutely quiet room, ask for one of the rooms whose window looks out into the hotel inner yard. In this respect our room 212A was perfect.
The hotel has recently been modernized, but it still tries to revoke the original atmosphere of the "olden golden days". The rooms are equipped with a well maintained retro style furniture, while the bathrooms meet all the modern standards. The only things I would suggest to replace are the old CRT type TV sets which are almost unwatchable owing to extensive snowing.
If you choose half-board kind of accommodation, be prepared for a rather limited dinner menu consisting of only three dishes (two meat, one vegetarian). The staff is pleasant, helpful and polite. They all speak German, but not many speak English. This is not only true of this hotel, but even of some Hungarian travel agencies.
When you feel tired from swimming in the Heviz thermal lake you can go to a bus station about 100 m from the hotel, where you can take a local bus to a nearby town of Keszthely. Apart from making a short walk along the lake Balaton coastal promenade, you can avail yourselves of the possibility to visit an amazing Festétic castle located in a beautiful arboretum garden.More
