Andras Schweitzer has exceptional depth and range of knowledge about Hungarian history. His personal insight due to his upbringing during the last years of Soviet control is very valuable. We had a wonderful afternoon with Andras! He is a very engaging and enjoyable guide. Highly recommended.

After engaging Insight Cities for unforgettable tours in Vienna and Prague, we ended our trip with 2 more from the company. The high standard for the guides and their content carried through. Izabella guided us through Pest giving historical and contemporary context to the interesting sights. She was a true joy to spend the afternoon with and she tailored the tour to our interests. Her knowledge was in-depth and she engaged us with questions that made us think and laugh. The following day we took the art nouveau tour with Runa. The tours complemented each other without being repetitive. Runa nicely tailored the walk to fit our needs and interests. We suggest taking this tour in Vienna, Prague and Budapest to get a real sense of the movement in central Europe. Runa's perspectives and knowledge truly added value to our understanding of the city, the region, culture and politics surrounding art nouveau. The architecture was also fabulous! After 5 tours, we can easily recommend this company. The guides are superb. Hope to see them in more cities in the future.

We had a wonderful 3 hour private tour with Izabella. She was very knowledgeable about Jewish history in Hungary and took us to all of the important sites . She was flexible and accommodated our needs. We would recommend a private tour to discover the Jewish history in Budapest and Hungary through the centuries.

Like so many travelers, we feel the best way to get to know a place and its people is through the eyes of a local guide. Insight Cities fills that objective with aplomb. We booked two tours with Insight Cities, the City History tour with Andras (in combination with Taste Hungary), and the Jewish tour with Eszter. Bonita, the founder of Insight Cities, combined the highlights of both tours so that the itineraries would be complimentary but not duplicative. Andras, on day 2, was particularly accommodating, as he included sites on the Buda side not part of his original preparation while skirting those we had managed to catch on our own. Both guides were accomplished, pleasant, sensitive, and good-humored. We would recommend Insight Cities for Budapest as well as other destinations.

We had a great afternoon walk with Henke. Because he is not native to Hungary, but has lived here for many years, and covered its news as a reporter, he has an interesting insight into the country and its more recent history. Despite the rather damp and coolish weather, we had a very good walking tour and overview of the downtown area. Henke is a good communicator. He accompanied the other 2 people on our tour back to their hotel using the tram - nice man and good tour. I feel I learned a lot about the city, and some of the recent history of Hungary, in a few hours. Very informative tour.
