Monument and statute is dedicated to the independence war of 1848. It is located just past St. Matthias Church in Castle Hill District. You will see a fork in the road, and this neat cute park with flowers and trees will be the setting for the statute. A nice mix of bronze and stone and beautiful design.

While strolling around Buda Hill prior to St. Matthias Church, there was a statue, Statue of the Independence War, erected in a small garden by the street side. The statue was there to commensarate those soldiers who died in the war for recovering Buda from the Austrians. Quite a nice place to remember the past.

When we visited Sandor Castle a while back we came across The Soldier Statue (Honved Szoobor). The statue is of a soldier holding a flag in his hand and a angle holding a laurel leave crown, the statue commemorates those who died during the recapture of Buda from the Austrins in 1848. The statue was was built by Gyorgy Zala and Albert Schickedanza in 1893.If you like statues it is worth visiting.
