When they built this---New York Palace, in 1894, their ambition was to build the most beautiful cafe in the world---the gem of the building. Everything being made of marble, bronze, silk, crystal, velvet...it's over the top! You have to see this old world luxury when you are in Budapest.
We came here for lunch first, it was packed with tourists, people came here for coffee/tea and dessert mainly. Menu isn't too big, we had rabbit thigh and salad, both were very tasty, surprisingly. So we came back the second time for dinner.
Dinner time in New York Cafe was much more pleasant and peaceful, because it wasn't as crowded. We had Wiener Schnitzel, foie gras and salad, it was a wonderful dinner!

Beautiful cafe and hotel. The desserts were delectable. This seems to be on everyone's list because there was a line of tourists out the door. However, it's a big space so you'd still be seated quickly.

An incredibly beautiful interior, great service and food - honestly, here is one place I wish there was a dress code so that guests match the splendid atmosphere. It deserves to be treated with respect. We loved it!

boyfriend treated me to cake selection and it was amazing, delicious and tasty. building. is ornate and customers are free to explore and walk around after their food. Was pricey but worth the little extra to say I've been to such a grand cafe. A must if you want a bit of decadence!

Had dinner there tonight. We were there before the dinner rush so maybe our experience was better. Food was best we have had on our 8 day trip so far. Service was avg but if you travel in Europe from time to time you realize that it's rare to get great service anyway because nobody tips like they do in the U.S. Decor was really nice. Worth every penny just go off peak.
