Description: Our philosophy: XO Bistro has three principal values, which are: tradition, style, and quality. These values are always in scope of our view, when we work to please our guests, and to make their stay at us a memorable experience. For us, the greatest reward for our work is a content smile on our guest's face. Tradition: Our offer is based on traditional Hungarian tastes, and the restaurant looks back to a hundred year old heritage of quality catering. Our dishes are a slight "reconsideration" of the traditional Hungarian cuisine, a kind of conservative "taste-revolution". We reanimate oldish savours to show our guests that Hungarian flavours should not be restricted to goulash soup. Style: Enjoy the classic turn of the century atmosphere, spiced with a bit of modern piquancy to create an interior of solid, casual elegance. XO's floor is decorated with hand made 120 year old black and white checkered tiles, and a reconstruction of the hundred year old stuccoes decorates the ceiling. Additionally ,our young and talented team colours the elegant tone of XO furthermore. Quality: Our menu is renewed seasonally, to present dishes made of only fresh and checked quality ingredients, using the latest techniques. According to the tradition we make home smoked fish, cheese and even bake our own bread. Our wine selection includes premium wines of Hungarian vineyards, and XO has a large selection of traditional "pálinka" spirits.

“Loved it!”

It came recommended by our hotel and was fantastic! Sometimes hotels can send you to tourist traps that leave a lot to be desired- that is not the case with this place. Dark woods, somewhat formal- but not overly so. Great service and great food. I has the duck breast with risotto. My wife the Mediterranean chicken. Both portions were large. Mine was great, hers over the top. Wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese over sautéed vegetables. We also had two of the large local draft beers. Out bill 9200F. A whopping $42. Yes, I know for the local that is high- but really for such a great meal with local flavor- you can't beat it. It's on the Main Street. You can't miss it.

“Pleasent Hungarian meal with Art Deco setting”
Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Business dinner. Had a traditional Hungarian meal that was tasty and filling. Based on limited experience with "real" Hungarian cooking it was sweeter than expected, but flavorful.

Prices seem quite reasonable for a major city, service was friendly and responsive. Maybe not for a special trip, but if you're close and looking for a good meal it's a good choice.

“Authentic hungarian food”
Reviewed October 1, 2013 via mobile

I went here for lunch. Their lunch menu is only 1690forint for 3courses as stated. The starters are choices of salad and bean soup. Both of them are tasty. For main courses, i tried pork chop with cabbage and potatoes and also the catfish with dumplings. I love them very much. There is no choice for dessert, which is the strudel only. The strudel is served hot, so it is quite tasty for me, even though i dont really like strudel. The white wine of xo bistro is nice as well. The only bad thing is the bill doesnt correlate with the prices on the menu. I was charged 4880 forint instead of ~4000forint.
