The outdoor seating located in the court yard of an older building next to the National Art Museum was a perfect setting for lunch on a very hot day. The food and service were good and location was good for a rest after a long visit in the overly warm art galleries. The salads we ordered were well made and presented.

Looking at the recent reviews, it seems that service and food quality may have been a problem. For whatever reason, our experience was the opposite.

We stayed in the Hilton in the Castle District and dined at the Rivalda on the first and last evenings of our trips. On both occasions, we arrived a bit early for dinner, about 20:00, but had no problem whatsoever getting attentive service. We ordered completely different items each night, which were served promptly and were, quite frankly, delicious.

We did not view the Rivalda as being overly pricey by American standards, although it probably is one of the higher priced restaurants in the Castle area, although certianly not as expensive as the Hilton. On both nights, the price of dinner (including appetizer and dessert) and beer/wine ran about $35/person.

Nice location but very average quality of food.
Main course was cooked beforehand and just heated.

the attractive courtyard caught our attention so our party of four went in. we sat in the shade and ordered lunch. in due time three of us received our appetizers (soup) and one of our entrees, then we were ignored. after an hour we finally called our waiter over. he felt no need to apoligize; he simply said "I'm not the cook.". and obviously he had no influence over him. after another 15 minutes we demanded a check for what we had received and left. my advice is to visit Rivalda for drinks and have your lunch elsewhere.

This is another example of the great deals that can be had at lunch time. For 4800 Ft (14 euros) we had starter and main course and a glass of wine.
The wild mushroom bisque with roasted walnuts was delicious as was the mediterranean stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon.
The dinner menu seemed quite expensive, but the lunch menu was a fantastic bargain.
