Description: Pierrot is a refined yet comfortable and relaxed, friendly restaurant run by our several generation restaurateur family. We are located in a 13th century old bakery house and have been here for three decades. We are featured in the Michelin Red Guide since 2005 and have been awarded 2 hats by Gault Millau in 2011. Since Pierrot was founded in 1982 then as the first private café-restaurant in Budapest, many important people - actors, superstars, artists have visited Pierrot, among them the bands Depeche Mode and AC/DC, actors Marcello Mastroiani, Sir Roger Moore, Antonio Banderas, Jeremy Irons, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Eva Mendez and Ryan Gosling. Pierrot has gone through several changes since 1982 but one thing has remained: In our family gastronomy is not merely a way of making a living but also a vocation in the best sense of the word. For decades we have regarded it our mission to make Hungarian cuisine and gastronomy shine in its old, pre-war glory again – you know, when Károly Gundel and Escoffier were still colleagues ...

“Well worth a visit.”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

My wife and visited Cafe Pierrot for lunch during our stay in Budapest. We both had Steak sandwiches which were cooked to perfection. My wife accompanied hers with a Vodka Martini which she said was great (dont judge, we were on vacation!!!) That afternoon we went for a Palinka tasting session, and Pierrot's was only a few minutes walk away from our venue.
Fabulous service in a lovely restaurant.
Cant wait to come back again!

“Delicious hot chocolate!!”
Reviewed December 15, 2012 via mobile

Popped in here for a coffee and cake and ended up drinking one of the most delicious hot chocolates ever- melted, liquid chocolate (and when it's -4 outside believe me that goes down well!)
I ate the Hungarian cottage cheese desert and husband had the chocolate variation and both were amazing.
Presented like you were in a Michelin starred restaurant and creative and delicious tasting.
Value was ok- main meals seemed a little pricey but it is a touristy area.
The staff were really friendly. When we went in it was early and empty so couldn't gauge the atmosphere but a lovely interior and clean and nicely decorated.
It has quite a posh look but is comfortable and relaxed inside.

“First Night Success”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

As this was our first night in Budapest, we did not know what to expect. We had done a bit of homework with our Rough Guide but haven't always been lucky! However, I am unreserved in my congratulations to this classy restaurant. The pianist was good (not too obtrusive - I am one myself!) and the service friendly and knowledgeable. Above all, the cooking was excellent with Smoked Fish and Artichoke Soup and Oxtail main course the hits of the evening. Very good Tokaji to drink and an introduction to Palinka which is not to be missed. Pierrot set the standard for what was to turn out to be a very good 'gourmand' trip.
