I spent a night at this lovely place across from the National Museum in district VIII. Rooms are comfortable and clean, staff pleasant to talk to and always happy to answer your questions. Our airport pick-up was at 17:00 and even though check-out is at 11:00, they were more than happy to keep an eye on the luggage.

Please note that when ringing in at the outer door when arriving just dial 10 and that's it - it ring reception automatically. The same with the inner gate.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great - if you are staying for a while - they have 3 bedroom suites with kitchenette 5 minutes from the main hotel on Pushkin Street

Just stayed at this place for 3 nights. We had a triple room on the street side overlooking the National Museum. Pleasant buzz from the street but double doors give plenty of insulation. Small balcony too. Airco was needed (30C outside each day and warm nights) and worked very well. Room and bathroom cleaned each day. All looking very tidy and up to date.
Breakfast at "Bali" which was a good 5 minute walk. For 3 Euro you get unlimited coffee/thee, one orange juice and a choice of 4 menu's (cereal or omelet or etc..) It wont fill you up if you want a decent breakfast. BTW you might as well pay at the Bali restaurant direct (and don't buy the vouchers from the hotel) as it is slightly cheaper.
Bed is comfortable although I could do with 1 or 2 extra pillows.
Complimentary bottle of wine on arrival plus fresh water, thee and coffee available at the reception free of charge.
Great thing is that you are right next to the underground. We bought a 72 hours card for unlimited use of metro, bus and tram. I think it was around 4500 HUF (15 Euro). Hotel is on the edge of the centre so we often took took it. Also to get to castle area on the other side of the river you can save a lot of walking using public transport.

All in all a perfect place for us with reasonable pricing. There are hotels right in the centre but you will pay a premium.

Room Tip: Stay in one of the street facing rooms. All with balcony with view on impressive National Museum.

The airport shuttle bus dropped us directly in front of the hotel door around 9 p.m. We did not see the intercom but followed someone through 2 locked doors. From the courtyard, we took the elevator to the 2nd level and then into the hotel lobby. The receptionists were always friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. A bottle of wine was waiting for us and the service was just excellent.

The room itself was large and bright with the windows overlooking the Museum across the street. We opened the windows to provide some fresh air but also some traffic noise. Other than that it was perfect.

Next door to the hotel was a great falafel cafe and breakfast was served a couple of blocks away. The central part of Pest was just a 10-minute walk. We stayed for 3 nights but moved very close to the train station before taking a morning train.

We would definitely stay there again.

The Annex to the Budapest Museum Central Hotel is for rooms with Jaccuzzi baths; don't let the locality or short walk from the main hotel reception put you off!!!
In fact the annex; on Puskin Street is in a quieter locality and the other residents are most friendly in helping you find your room door when arriving at night. Clean room ( cleaned every day) and kitchen facilities with fridge/microwave. Its only a 10 min walk from main hotel reception which is on Muzeum krt 39 - but on the 2nd floor. Would certainly stay again at either locality; hotel reception really is staffed 24 hours and most helpful.

Room Tip: any of the 3 rooms in the Annex appartment on Puskin utca are good and quiet.

We stayed in an annex to this apartment hotel and were delighted to find that it was a small part of a residential courtyard occupied by local people. It was very quiet, and even without the air conditioning it was cool (being a renovated old building with high ceilings).
It was equipped with a hotplate and a microwave (so cooking would be a little restricted) and it was more like a large hotel room (with bath) than an apartment. However I still give it 5 stars since the welcome was so friendly, it was so peaceful, and the price was extremely reasonable. The free bottle of good wine was a nice touch.
Breakfast (inclusive) was at nearby cafe. This worked very well, with a choice of breakfasts (including omelette) and a relaxed ambience, with welcoming staff.
A word of warning - the entrance to the reception looks like an ordinary apartment block and you must use the intercom to get in. Once in the staff speak English and are very helpful.
