“Huge room and great location & wine”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

I originally booked 4 nights but had to change to 2 nights due to Hurricane Irene that affected the East Coast of USA last August. It was not a problem for the hotel to cancel the first 2 nights. And the rate for the remaining 2 nights turned out to be even lower than the original booking! I'd love to have stayed longer at this guest house hotel though, as it's close to a metro station and right across from the museum. The staff was professional and the breakfast was delivered to the room every morning. The room itself was huge! There's also a free bottle of white wine. I don't drink much and this bottle was excellent. Such a great welcoming and surprising gift. The wifi was consistent. There were free biscuits and tea by the front desk too. Guests have to leave the key cards with the receptionist every time they go out, and ring the bell at the front entrance as the hotel is located inside an apartment complex with an inner courtyard--normal for European cities. But at night sometimes it'd take a while for the receptionist to open the door. Overall this hotel provided a clean, safe, welcoming and comfortable stay for me. Great value and I'd definitely stay here again. There's quite a lot to see in the historical Budapest.

Booked for 5 nights while on holidays and loved the hotel. Front desk staff were excellent and helped out in anyway. Room was large, nice sunny windows, television had numerous english channels, bathroom was clean and large. Very close to metro, tram, cafes, 5 min walk to Danube and central market.

Minor complaint was the heat was too high while we were there but they corrected it.

Would not hesistate to book again.

Room Tip: If you prefer a quiet room ask for one facing the courtyard. For sun/view ask for one facing the mus...

Very well located studio apartment and only a 5 minute walk from the metro. Initially we checked in at Reception and then we were told the studio's were about a 4 minute walk away to the side of the National Hungarian Museum. I was aware of the 2 sites on booking but didn't know until getting there exactly which one we would be staying at. When we arrived in the evening there were a couple of unsavoury characters outside and lots of junk/rubbish on the street but on entering the building we found a lovely courtyard. The studio was nice and clean with a good shower and kitchen facilities. TV didn't work properly but that didn't really matter - it was just a bit of background noise. Fairly quiet apartment, just heard a dog once but that was about it. Some great restaurants nearby. Reception staff were friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast was in a nearby cafe/restaurant which was about a 5 min walk away. Excellent breakfast choice and unlimited tea/coffee. Also ate at the restaurant one night. Also had vouchers for 2 free hot wines at the cafe too. Cafe was much better than expecting - a pleasant surprise and also v near the metro or an easy walk to the Danube.

Hotel was bang in centre, literally looks at the Central Museum. Two tram stations and one metro nearby, lot of eating places - one kebab place that is open till 5 am! Fantastic staff, all females (as far as I could see), everyone was very helpful, spoke good english. Free wine bottle when you enter, arranged for cab when we left, helped us plan our Budapest tour. Free breakfast next day at a nearby cafe (quite good!). The place had a lot of character, snowing heavily when we went, -14C and Malev had just gone bankrupt the day before. It's not a hotel, more like a floor on an Apartment complex. Heating was adequate, HIGH ceilings and good hot showers with nice/pleasant room freshners

We had a pleasant stay at the Museum Central Hotel last weekend. Like many of the other comments say, finding this hotel is a bit of a mission and the entrance is a little eerie, especially if you arrive when it's dark.. The masked entrance makes you question a little whether the whole entity is fully registered!!

Needless to say all the staff were very friendly, the rooms were very nice and extremely clean, the beds comfy, the windows drowned out any street noise and the showers were strong and piping hot. Hair dryers were a little on the powerless side however bearable. For a short city break weekend we really couldn't complain, especially for the price. Would highly recommend the hotel - its very centrally located and ticks most of the boxes for a low frills stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Museum - stunning!

25 euro for this hotel is a real bargain! Okay i must admit its not the easiest place to find and the small lift upstairs isn t al that, but once inside the hotel, you get a great large room with nothing to complain about for a price like this.
Would recommend it to all.
Again.. Just a great little place.

As one of the previous reviewers states; apartments are the way forward. This place was immaculate, self contained and very centrally located. Budapest is easy to navigate from here, with many of the must see locations within walking distance. The apartment was regularly cleaned and had all of the important facilities. I would definitely use it again. Oh and a bottle of chilled Hungarian wine waiting for us on arrival!
