One street back from the Danube, north of the Margit Hid (Bridge), you'll find this great traditional restaurant. Staff are friendly (as many reviewers have said), but not intrusive. Wine is served informally - red or white, good quality, local made, by the glass or carafe. I recommend a glass of their Tokaji (5 Putt) with your dessert. The menu is amazingly varied with dozens of mains to choose from.
I enjoyed goose soup, very tender and tasty venison in red wine sauce with cranberry stuffed baked apple and homemade croquets, apple fritters, 2 glasses of wine and a glass of Tokaji - 10,000 HUF (33€)! Compared with 13,500 for a smaller scale, but not close in quality or atmosphere, meal at the Hilton where I stayed - no contest.
